Senior Solution Architect - Banking

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Solution Architect / Technical Architect to join the Architecture team supporting Digital Products and Corporate Assisted Banking initiatives.

The Senior Architect will work closely with the Head of Architecture while partnering with Delivery Heads, business stakeholders, technology teams, and relevant internal departments and subsidiaries. The role requires deep technical expertise, strong solution-oriented thinking, and the ability to design secure, resilient, reliable, scalable, and high-performing solutions that balance functional requirements with customer/user experience.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in banking and financial services, with exposure to accounting, payments, lending, credit products, and preferably corporate banking, together with extensive experience in microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture, message brokers, cloud-native infrastructure, and modern application architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the architecture and solution design of complex enterprise applications across Digital Products and Corporate Assisted Banking.
• Translate business and functional requirements into scalable, secure, reliable, resilient, and high-performance technical solutions.
• Develop end-to-end solution designs, high-level designs, architecture patterns, and technical solutions across backend, frontend, APIs, mobile applications, microservices, message brokers, and event-streaming platforms.
• Participate in and/or lead architecture activities for multiple projects, ensuring solutions are aligned with enterprise architecture principles and standards.
• Design solutions within microservices and API-based ecosystems.
• Define and evaluate architectural design principles, patterns, and approaches, clearly articulating their benefits, limitations, trade-offs, and suitability for the given business requirement.
• Develop and maintain architecture standards, guidelines, patterns, and best practices.
• Work closely with internal technology teams, business stakeholders, delivery teams, departments, and subsidiaries to ensure effective solution design and implementation.
• Ensure architecture decisions appropriately balance functional requirements, customer/user experience, performance, reliability, resiliency, scalability, and security.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance throughout the solution lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation and delivery.
• Support technical decision-making and provide architectural recommendations for complex business and technology challenges.
• Ensure proposed solutions are aligned with relevant cyber security and information security requirements.
• Collaborate with Agile delivery teams and contribute to architecture activities throughout the Agile delivery lifecycle.
• Support architecture governance and ensure adherence to agreed architecture standards and best practices.
• Demonstrate strong ownership, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management across complex technology initiatives.
• Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, business domains, and evolving banking requirements.

Microservices & API Architecture

• Strong hands-on experience designing and architecting microservices-based applications.
• Strong experience with API-based ecosystems and API architecture.
• Experience designing secure, scalable, reliable, and resilient APIs and distributed services.
• Understanding of service-to-service communication and integration patterns.

Event-Driven Architecture

• Experience with message brokers and event-streaming technologies.
• Strong understanding of event-driven architecture and asynchronous communication patterns.
• Ability to design resilient and scalable event-based solutions.

Cloud-Native & Container Architecture

• Strong experience with container-based / cloud-native application infrastructure.
• Understanding of cloud-native architecture principles and associated technology ecosystems.
• Experience designing solutions for scalability, availability, resiliency, and performance in distributed environments.

Security Architecture

• Adequate knowledge and practical experience in incorporating cyber security and information security considerations into application and solution architecture.
• Ability to ensure security requirements are considered throughout solution design.
• Understanding of secure application architecture, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native environments.

Agile Delivery Experience

Strong experience working within Agile methodologies and Agile delivery teams is essential.

Required Experience

• Strong experience in Solution Architecture and/or Technical Architecture.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in end-to-end architecture, HLD, solution design, and architecture patterns.
• Strong banking / financial services domain experience.
• Experience participating in and/or leading at least 3 projects involving the design and architecture of resilient, reliable, and secure applications.
• Strong experience with microservices and API-based ecosystems.
• Experience across backend, frontend, APIs, mobile applications, message brokers, and event streams.
• Experience with container-based / cloud-native infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of architecture principles, patterns, trade-offs, and best practices.
• Experience developing and maintaining architecture standards and guidelines.
• Strong Agile delivery experience, including Tribes, Squads, Agile ceremonies, Features, Epics, Stories, and Acceptance Criteria.
