Our partner is looking for a Senior Virtualization & AI Engineering Specialist - ASSETS based in the United States. This is a senior engineering role supporting enterprise virtualization, artificial intelligence, data science, and analytics capabilities within a highly secure mission environment. You will engineer, operate, and optimize VMware infrastructure and advanced analytics platforms supporting critical command-and-control systems. The role combines virtualization engineering with AI/ML, data analytics, systems integration, cybersecurity, and mission-focused systems engineering. You will work across classified environments to maintain highly available, secure, compliant, and fully visible infrastructure. A key part of the position involves translating stakeholder requirements into executable technical solutions, documentation, models, and implementation plans. You will collaborate closely with cyber, network, data science, application, and operations teams while providing technical guidance to junior personnel. This opportunity is well suited to an experienced DoD technology professional who can connect complex infrastructure and emerging AI capabilities with demanding mission requirements.

As a Senior Virtualization & AI Engineering Specialist, you will provide technical leadership across virtualization, AI and analytics, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and mission infrastructure operations. Design, implement, administer, and maintain VMware vSphere and ESXi virtualization infrastructure across multiple environments and security domains. Configure and manage vRealize Aria Operations and vRealize Aria Operations for Logs to provide performance monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and log analysis. Troubleshoot complex virtualization, operating system, and hardware issues while coordinating with vendors and internal technical teams. Lead the development, tuning, and integration of AI, data science, and analytics capabilities supporting mission and administrative requirements. Translate stakeholder and government requirements into actionable technical tasks, work packages, system requirements, and integration proposals. Develop supporting technical documentation and SysML/UML class, process, and sequence diagrams where required. Support modeling and simulation of future requirements and contribute to agile development and testing of mission software. Integrate AI and analytics outputs with existing virtualization and mission platforms to improve situational awareness, performance monitoring, and decision support. Track technical progress against plans, identify risks and dependencies, and develop courses of action for leadership and stakeholders. Prepare technical briefings, status reports, and other documentation that clearly communicate technical risks, milestones, and recommendations. Ensure assigned infrastructure and systems comply with DoD STIGs, DISA guidance, and applicable cybersecurity policies. Partner with cyber and security teams to maintain asset visibility across classified networks and support risk management and accreditation activities. Support vulnerability remediation, configuration hardening, security monitoring, patching, and mitigation activities. Administer and maintain risk registry processes across SIPR and JWICS MSS platforms in coordination with government stakeholders. Support the design and implementation of virtualization, AI/ML, and data analytics solutions across on-premises and cloud environments. Provide metrics and feedback for verification and validation testing, change management, and release planning. Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, data science, and operations teams to deliver integrated infrastructure and analytics solutions. Provide technical mentoring, knowledge transfer, and guidance to junior engineers, administrators, and analysts. Serve as a technical point of contact for internal customers and mission partners, explaining complex technical concepts in clear, mission-focused terms. Requirements The role requires extensive infrastructure and systems engineering experience, strong virtualization expertise, and the ability to operate effectively within secure and highly regulated DoD environments. Must be a U.S. citizen . Must possess and maintain TS with SCI eligibility . High school diploma required. Minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience . At least 8 years of progressive IT infrastructure experience, including 3–5 years focused on virtualization and systems engineering within DoD or similarly complex environments. Hands-on experience administering VMware vSphere and ESXi, including host configuration, virtual machine provisioning, and lifecycle management. Experience with VMware vRealize Aria Operations and vRealize Aria Operations for Logs, or equivalent VMware monitoring and logging platforms. Experience creating dashboards, configuring alerts, and monitoring enterprise infrastructure performance. Demonstrated experience supporting DoD STIG compliance and cybersecurity best practices. Experience working with AI, data science, or analytics tooling, including requirements translation, model support, data pipelines, or analytics dashboards. Strong troubleshooting capabilities across virtualization, Windows Server, Windows operating systems, Unix/Linux, and hardware layers. Proven ability to develop and automate capacity, performance, or analytics reports. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to translate complex stakeholder requirements into practical technical solutions and implementation plans. Experience collaborating across engineering, cybersecurity, operations, data science, and application teams. Experience with AWS, IBM Cloud, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is advantageous. Experience supporting AI/ML, modeling and simulation, or advanced analytics within DoD or Intelligence Community programs is a plus. Familiarity with SysML/UML, model-based systems engineering, and related tools is preferred. VMware vSphere 6.7 Foundations certification or higher is preferred. CompTIA Security+ or an equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II/III certification is preferred. Oracle Certified Foundations Associate and/or Certified Configuration Management Logistics Professional certification is advantageous. Ability to successfully complete required background investigations, including criminal history and identity verification. Benefits Full-time employment.
