Job Summary
Service Technician is responsible for independently performing and supporting aftermarket service activities for the K-Winch product line, including Truckline systems, Powerpacks, and Winches.
The role performs equipment inspection, dismantling, troubleshooting, refurbishment, repair, reassembly, testing, commissioning, and field service activities. The Technician is expected to diagnose equipment problems, identify repair requirements, and ensure work is completed in accordance with approved procedures, drawings, quality requirements, and HSE standards.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection, Dismantling & Assessment
- Inspection, Dismantling & Assessment
- Perform incoming inspection and condition assessment of customer equipment.
- Review equipment history, reported faults, and scope of work before starting service activities.
- Independently dismantle Truckline, Powerpack, Winch, and associated assemblies.
- Inspect mechanical, hydraulic, and associated components for wear, corrosion, deformation, contamination, and damage.
- Perform dimensional inspections using appropriate measuring instruments.
- Identify reusable, repairable, and replacement components.
- Document findings and support preparation of inspection and repair recommendations.
- Ensure proper identification, traceability, preservation, and segregation of components.
Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic faults using drawings, schematics, service information, and test equipment.
- Troubleshoot winch operating problems, hydraulic leaks, pressure issues, abnormal noise, overheating, and performance problems.
- Determine probable causes of equipment failure and recommend corrective action.
- Perform repair, refurbishment, and overhaul activities in accordance with approved procedures.
- Replace seals, bearings, hoses, fittings, valves, motors, pumps, and other components as required.
- Perform controlled assembly, torquing, alignment, and adjustment activities.
Reassembly & TestingDocumentation & Quality
- Complete job cards, inspection reports, test records, service reports, and other required documentation.
- Ensure equipment and component traceability throughout the repair process.
- Follow approved drawings, procedures, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Identify and report non-conformances.
- Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions when required.
- Provide technical input for repair scope, parts requirements, and service recommendations.

- Qualifications & Experience Essential
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Awareness and understanding of workshop environments.
- Physically fit for workshop-based work.
- Knowledge of operating overhead cranes and breakout machines.
Desirable
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Previous experience in oilfield repair and maintenance shops.
- Advanced knowledge of overhead cranes and breakout machines.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a related role (considered an asset).
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Perform all duties in accordance with Quality Assurance procedures and departmental instructions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
- Participate in required training programs.
- Comply with all company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
