The SGCI multilateral call funds collaborative multi-country research aligned with STISA-2034. Consortia must include one lead applicant organization and two to four co-applicant organizations from participating SGCI countries. IDRC states a general funding range of CAD 50,000 to CAD 300,000 per consortium member. Kenya’s country-specific funding ceiling is KES 20,000,000 and its eligible thematic areas are health, agriculture, AI, energy and environment.
Eligibility requirements
For the Kenya stream, the Principal Investigator must be a Kenyan citizen and affiliated with a recognized Kenyan research institution; lead applicants must hold a relevant PhD. Non-Kenyans may participate under a Kenyan Principal Investigator. Host and partner institutional support letters are required. The consortium must include institutions from multiple participating SGCI countries under the full call rules.
