The NRF is inviting eligible South African researchers to join multi-country African consortia under the SGCI–STISA 2034 multilateral research call.

Collaborative proposals may address agriculture and food security, health and emergency preparedness, ICT and an integrated Africa, energy, environment, biodiversity, water and climate resilience. South African consortium members can be supported for projects lasting up to three years.
Eligibility requirements
The South African principal investigator must be a South African citizen or permanent resident, reside in South Africa, and be affiliated with a recognised South African public higher-education or research institution. SME, private-company and NGO researchers may join but cannot serve as the principal investigator and must cover their own participation costs. A historically disadvantaged South African institution must form part of the consortium.
