Shop Technician - Part Time (Backcountry)

Backcountry is seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Retail Shop Technician to join our team. As a Retail Shop Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring that all products are maintained, repaired, and assembled according to the company's standards. Your primary objective will be to provide high-quality customer service by assisting with product inquiries and providing technical support, and selling merchandising to customers. This position will report into the Store Manager.

Assemble, maintain and repair outdoor gear and equipment, including bicycles, ski & snowboard equipment, watercraft, camping gear, and other outdoor equipment. Perform quality assurance checks on all products prior to customer delivery. Provide product information, advice, and recommendations to customers Provide support to sales associates with product knowledge and recommendations. Keep the shop organized and tidy, including maintaining an inventory of necessary tools and supplies. Work collaboratively with the team to meet sales goals and provide exceptional customer service. Develop and maintain knowledge of products, industry trends, and competitors Other duties as assigned by management team and Lead Shop Tech. Greet and assist customers with their purchases Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently Maintain a clean and organized store environment Manage inventory levels and restock merchandise Participate in company-wide promotions and marketing campaigns Continuously strive to improve customer satisfaction and exceed sales targets

1+ years of experience in a retail shop technician or similar role. Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills with outdoor gear and equipment. Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively. Knowledge of the latest industry trends and products. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certifications related to outdoor gear and equipment preferred.

Ability to communicate verbally and work cooperatively with associates and customers Ability to remain standing for up to 5 hours at a time Ability to move about the store coaching and directing associates; selling to customers and retrieving merchandise from stockroom or sales floor Ability to grab, reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch to retrieve and replenish merchandise from stockroom or sales floor Ability to lift and/or move merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to ascend/descend ladders to retrieve and/or move merchandise Ability to operate a computer, POS system, keyboards, merchandise scanners and mouse to accomplish work Must have a flexible schedule, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays Regular and predictable attendance
