Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Shopify UX Designer – Customizer Specialist based in Brazil. As a Shopify UX Designer, you will combine e-commerce strategy, UX expertise, and hands-on Shopify implementation to create high-performing digital storefronts. You will shape site architecture, navigation, product pages, collections, filtering, and conversion-focused customer journeys. The role is particularly focused on maximizing Shopify's native capabilities through themes, sections, blocks, metafields, and metaobjects. You will use Figma to develop style guides, wireframes, and responsive designs while identifying when custom development is genuinely required. Working closely with developers, project managers, and clients, you will take ownership from initial UX planning through implementation and final QA. You will also contribute to CRO, accessibility, Klaviyo, Shopify apps, and AI-assisted design workflows as projects require. This is a client-facing opportunity for a designer who enjoys combining creative thinking, technical execution, and practical e-commerce problem-solving.
UX & Site Strategy: Plan site structures, navigation, menus, mega menus, page hierarchies, collections, filtering strategies, and product detail page experiences with a strong focus on usability and conversion. UX & CRO Audits: Review existing storefront experiences, identify usability and conversion opportunities, and translate findings into clear, prioritized recommendations. Figma Design: Create web style guides, wireframes, responsive mockups, and visual designs in Figma, including typography, colors, buttons, and reusable component styles. Shopify Customization: Build and style homepages, product pages, collection pages, headers, footers, and content pages directly through the Shopify Theme Customizer. Shopify OS 2.0: Work confidently with Shopify OS 2.0 sections and blocks while using native theme capabilities effectively rather than unnecessarily relying on custom development. Structured Content: Configure and manage metafields and metaobjects to support scalable content such as product specifications, size guides, FAQs, and other structured information. Apps & Integrations: Configure and style Shopify applications for reviews, upsells, bundles, subscriptions, product swatches, customer support, and other e-commerce functionality, while verifying embeds and integrations after theme changes. Klaviyo: Design and build email templates and flows in Klaviyo when required by individual projects. Quality Assurance: Perform QA across desktop, tablet, and mobile experiences, including basic accessibility checks covering contrast, alt text, and keyboard navigation order. Developer Collaboration: Identify technical requirements that exceed native Shopify capabilities, prepare clear specifications and developer notes, and collaborate with developers to ensure accurate implementation. Client Engagement: Participate in client meetings, present designs and recommendations, gather feedback, and translate business needs into practical UX and implementation decisions. Training & Handoff: Create Shopify management guides and short Loom training videos to help clients confidently manage their stores after launch. End-to-End Ownership: Remain accountable for assigned work from initial UX strategy and design through implementation, refinement, and final QA. Requirements Shopify Experience: 2+ years of professional experience building Shopify stores using theme-store themes. Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating hands-on Shopify storefront work and Theme Customizer experience is required; portfolios focused exclusively on custom-coded or non-Shopify websites are not sufficient. Shopify OS 2.0: Strong practical experience with Shopify OS 2.0, sections, and blocks. Metafields & Metaobjects: Hands-on experience using Shopify Admin metafields and metaobjects to manage structured storefront content. Figma: Strong Figma skills for creating style guides, wireframes, mockups, and responsive designs. E-commerce UX: Strong understanding of e-commerce UX, mobile-first design, visual hierarchy, typography, navigation, and conversion-focused experiences. Shopify-Native Design: Ability to create attractive and effective storefronts within the practical capabilities of Shopify themes. UX Auditing: Ability to conduct UX audits and clearly communicate actionable recommendations. Accessibility: Working knowledge of WCAG accessibility fundamentals. Client Communication: Strong professional spoken and written English, with confidence presenting designs, recommendations, and decisions directly to clients. Documentation: Ability to produce clear written documentation and record concise training videos. Remote Collaboration: Strong organization, ownership, responsiveness, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote environment. U.S. Hours: Reliable availability during agreed U.S. business hours, with schedules falling within Eastern to Pacific Time business hours. Preferred Experience: Familiarity with Klaviyo, Shopify applications such as Rebuy, Judge.me, Okendo, Yotpo, Recharge, or Gorgias, as well as basic Liquid and/or HTML/CSS knowledge. Additional Expertise: Experience with A/B testing or CRO, Magento-to-Shopify or BigCommerce-to-Shopify migrations, and AI-assisted design workflows is considered a plus. Benefits Compensation: $1,400–$2,200 USD per month. Remote Work: Fully remote opportunity available from Latin America, including Brazil. Flexible Engagement: Part-time to full-time contractor arrangement, with the opportunity to grow into a larger long-term engagement. Flexible Schedule: Working hours can be arranged within U.S. business hours, from Eastern through Pacific Time, according to team requirements. Flexible PTO: Flexible paid time off, including holidays observed in your country plus additional paid leave. Paid Trial Period: Initial 2–3 month paid trial period with the potential for continued, longer-term collaboration. Real-World Projects: Work on Shopify projects for established e-commerce brands and contribute to storefronts with real business impact. Broad Skill Development: Build expertise across Shopify UX, Figma, CRO, e-commerce strategy, accessibility, Klaviyo, Shopify apps, and emerging AI tools. Client Exposure: Work directly with clients while collaborating with experienced designers, developers, and project managers. End-to-End Ownership: Take responsibility for work from UX strategy and design through implementation and final QA. Technical & Creative Growth: Develop the ability to combine strong visual and UX design with practical Shopify implementation and technical problem-solving.
