Applications close 1 October 2026 at 12:00 noon Eastern Time. The fellowship provides salary replacement, including salary and fringe benefits, for up to 50% of the fellow's academic-year salary, capped at US$125,000, plus up to US$10,000 for leave-related expenses. The home institution receives an additional 20% overhead on allowable direct costs, and the maximum total budget request is US$162,000. The foundation expects to make up to 50 mathematics fellowships this cycle.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be sabbatical- or equivalent-leave-eligible faculty and use the award to extend at least a single-term sabbatical to a full academic year without teaching or administrative duties. They must hold a teaching or administrative tenured position in a mathematics department at the same U.S. or Canadian college or university at application, throughout the leave and in the following term, and maintain an active research program. Applied mathematics and statistics are eligible when the applicant is based in a mathematics department.
