Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be sabbatical- or equivalent-leave-eligible faculty and use the award to extend at least a single-term sabbatical to a full academic year without teaching or administrative duties. They must hold a teaching or administrative tenured position in a mathematics department at the same U.S. or Canadian college or university at application, throughout the leave and in the following term, and maintain an active research program. Applied mathematics and statistics are eligible when the applicant is based in a mathematics department.

Tips for this fellowship

Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.

  1. Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
  2. Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
  3. Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
  4. Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
