The next SRAP cycle closes on 1 November 2026 at 19:00 Singapore time (GMT+8). A Singapore-based lead researcher from an eligible publicly funded RIE institution applies jointly with at least one overseas research centre or programme. Successful projects run for three to five years and support six to ten overseas-based postgraduate or PhD students, each for a one-to-two-year physical attachment in Singapore. Current official support includes monthly stipend and housing subsidy, one-time airfare, settling-in and IT allowances, medical insurance, conference allowance and visa cost. Tuition charged by the student's home university is not covered.
Eligibility requirements
The institutional proposal must involve at least one Singapore and one overseas research centre or programme. The Singapore lead researcher must hold at least a 75% primary appointment in a local publicly funded organisation. Students recruited under an awarded project must be overseas-based postgraduate or PhD students matriculated at an overseas university, ideally hold at least a Second-Class Upper Honours bachelor's degree or equivalent, and must not previously have received an ASTAR Research Attachment Programme award. ASTAR states that the programme does not require a formal English test, though students should be able to work in English.
