Six students from the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Jamaica) School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM) received the 2026 Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards scholarships and bursaries at a special presentation held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Jamaica Observer’s offices on Beechwood Avenue, St Andrew, ahead of the 27th staging of the Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards.
The Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards Scholarship and Bursary Programme supports talented culinary students by helping fund their education, equipping them to raise Jamaica’s culinary standards and lead the industry in the future. Since its inception, the programme has provided more than $20 million in scholarships and bursaries to over 60 students.

Dr Kevin Brown, President of UTech, Jamaica, expressed gratitude to the organisers for their continued support of UTech, Jamaica students, noting that “we have a premier Hospitality and Tourism Management programme at UTech, where we teach culinary arts, gastronomy, and food and beverage.” Dr Norene Brown-Roomes, Head, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, also thanked the organisers for their continued support, noting that “the Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards has been giving our students scholarships for the last 27 years, and we are grateful for that.”
