Opportunity Information

Sutter Medical Group (SMG) seeks to hire an experienced Sports Psychologist (PhD or PsyD) to join a growing Behavioral Health program in Sacramento, CA.

Qualifications

PhD or PsyD

Required Qualifications:

• Experienced in working with culturally and diagnostically diverse populations and with late adolescent or young adult populations.

• Cognizant of the impact of sociocultural identity and context on mental health symptoms.

• Capable of providing clinical services in a nontraditional setting while maintaining confidentiality and appropriate clinical boundaries.

• Able to assist in coordinating the response to mental health emergencies.

• Capable of clinical flexibility and demonstrating good skills and instincts while working in a complex and high-profile administrative system.

• Capable of facilitating an appropriate referral for medication evaluation and for specialty clinical services (e.g., more intensive treatment, substance use, couples therapy) as needed.

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment as a part of a multidisciplinary team of professionals.

Recommended Qualifications

• Has at least five years of broad clinical experience (following the individual’s most recent degree) with culturally and diagnostically diverse populations.

• Experienced in working with elite athletes at the collegiate or professional level.

• Experienced in providing educational presentations and workshops to groups.

• Trained or experienced in addressing team dynamics or organizational systems (including internal processes such as communication, time management, role clarification, and leadership/management styles to increase organizational productivity and efficiency).

• Credentialed as a CMPC® through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. (The CMPC® certification program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.)

• Trained or experienced in providing mental performance services to athletes or individuals in high-performance populations (e.g., military, performing artists).
