Complete grant details
The October 2026 SNSF Project Funding call closes on 1 October 2026 at 17:00 CEST. The scheme supports independent disciplinary, interdisciplinary and collaborative research. Eligible costs include staff salaries, research costs and scientific collaboration, networking and communication; applicants' own salaries are paid by their institutions. The SNSF awards up to CHF 250,000 per applicant per year on average across the grant duration. The minimum grant is CHF 100,000, projects normally last one to four years, and collaborative projects with three or more applicants are capped at CHF 3 million.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants are experienced researchers working at a university or another SNSF-eligible institution in Switzerland. Applicants normally must spend at least 50% of their working time in research at an eligible Swiss research institution, subject to stated exceptions, and must meet the scientific qualifications and independence requirements in the current SNSF rules. Collaborative applicants are jointly responsible for the project.
Tips for this grant
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
