Software Engineer II

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer II based in India. This is an opportunity to build and operate high-reliability software supporting a globally distributed network infrastructure. You’ll develop systems that help network infrastructure, operations, and engineering teams automate complex workflows and work more efficiently. The role spans the full software lifecycle, from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing operations. You’ll work on distributed systems with web and console interfaces, with a strong focus on availability, observability, automation, and identity management. Collaboration is central to the role, with opportunities to work alongside international, cross-functional engineering teams. You’ll also contribute to improving development practices while mentoring less experienced engineers. Analyze, design, develop, and implement highly available systems software for large-scale network operations. Develop new functionality across services focused on automation, observability, and identity management. Contribute throughout the complete product lifecycle, from ideation and technical design through implementation, deployment, operation, and maintenance. Improve software systems and engineering practices related to testing, deployment, monitoring, reliability, and maintainability. Develop and maintain distributed systems with both web-based and console interfaces. Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, operations teams, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality software solutions. Investigate emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to network operations, automation, and distributed systems. Support continuous improvement initiatives and help identify opportunities to make engineering and operational workflows more efficient. Mentor and support less experienced engineers, promoting strong technical practices and high-quality implementations. Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. At least 2 years of programming experience with Python, Go, shell scripting, or a combination of these technologies. At least 4 years of software development experience working with Linux or Unix platforms. Working knowledge of core internet and networking protocols, including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and/or TLS/SSL. Experience using version-control systems such as Git, Stash, and/or Perforce. Understanding of distributed systems, high-availability software, automation, observability, and reliable production operations is highly valuable. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work through complex technical challenges. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within an international, cross-functional environment.
