Software Engineer (Repositories)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer (Repositories) based in the United States. This is an infrastructure-focused backend engineering opportunity centered on building secure, reliable systems for serving software artifacts at scale. You’ll contribute to customer-facing registries, APIs, and production services while helping shape the foundation of a broader repository platform. The role combines software engineering with production infrastructure, giving you the opportunity to develop Go services and strengthen your operational expertise. You’ll own well-defined projects from technical design through testing, deployment, monitoring, and iteration, with support from experienced engineers. Your work will directly contribute to scalability, reliability, performance, observability, and a seamless developer experience. You’ll collaborate across engineering and product teams, participate in technical decisions, and gain exposure to complex systems operating in production. Build and improve customer-facing package registries, APIs, and artifact-serving systems that enable software to be consumed securely, reliably, and efficiently. Deliver well-scoped projects and features across the full development lifecycle, including technical design, implementation, testing, rollout, monitoring, and continuous improvement. Develop and operate backend services in Go while contributing to systems that support multiple artifact types and evolve into a broader repository platform. Improve production systems through work focused on scalability, reliability, observability, performance, and load testing. Participate in technical design discussions and contribute thoughtful decisions around service boundaries, APIs, data flows, and operational practices. Collaborate with engineers and product partners to solve technical challenges and deliver a cohesive customer-facing repository experience. Review code, share knowledge, ask thoughtful questions, and contribute to a supportive engineering culture built around continuous learning. Investigate and resolve production issues while developing stronger operational judgment and a practical understanding of how customer-facing infrastructure performs in real-world environments. Requirements: 2+ years of software engineering experience, including some exposure to backend or infrastructure systems. Experience with Go, or strong programming experience in another language combined with the ability and willingness to become productive in Go quickly. Experience taking software projects from implementation through testing and release, with a solid understanding of software development fundamentals. Interest in building customer-facing infrastructure such as package registries, artifact repositories, APIs, developer platforms, or other backend systems. Familiarity with testing, code review, debugging, version control, and other core engineering practices. Experience deploying or operating production services, or a strong interest in developing production operations and infrastructure skills. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure or infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform is helpful but not required. A systems-oriented and curious mindset, with an ability to investigate how systems work, diagnose problems, understand root causes, and continuously improve solutions. Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to ask for help, incorporate feedback, work through ambiguity, and contribute effectively in a remote environment. Experience with production backend or infrastructure systems, strong Go expertise, project ownership, high-scale serving systems, reliability and observability practices, security and performance tradeoffs, or production cloud infrastructure is a plus.
