Our partner is looking for a Software Engineering Manager - Investments based in the United States. You will combine people leadership, technical depth, delivery accountability, and financial-services expertise to drive business-critical outcomes. The role spans investment applications, APIs, integrations, data platforms, and modern cloud capabilities across front-, middle-, and back-office functions. You will partner closely with Investments, Investment Operations, Accounting, Product, Architecture, Security, Risk, and Data teams. A key focus will be modernizing technology while maintaining strong reliability, security, auditability, and regulatory controls. You will also shape engineering culture, develop talent, manage resources, and introduce responsible innovation, including AI-enabled engineering practices. This is an opportunity to influence technology strategy while delivering resilient solutions in a complex, globally connected financial environment.

Lead, coach, and develop software engineering teams across hiring, performance management, career development, succession planning, and workforce strategy. Own predictable delivery and operational performance, balancing product enhancements, modernization, regulatory commitments, technical debt, reliability, and production support. Partner with Product Management and Product Owners to shape roadmaps, define outcomes, manage dependencies, allocate capacity, and translate business priorities into actionable engineering work. Guide technical direction in partnership with architecture, data, cloud, and security teams across applications, APIs, integrations, infrastructure, and data platforms. Establish engineering standards covering secure development, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, documentation, release management, and maintainability. Oversee cloud-native applications, services, data pipelines, APIs, event-driven integrations, and analytical data capabilities. Manage integrations with investment platforms, accounting systems, custodians, market-data providers, and other external technology partners while supporting build-versus-buy decisions and vendor performance. Ensure production services meet expectations for availability, resilience, recoverability, performance, monitoring, incident response, and disaster recovery. Embed security, privacy, access controls, data lineage, auditability, segregation of duties, and regulatory requirements into engineering delivery. Manage budgets, vendor spend, staffing, capacity, hiring, and forecasts while aligning resources with the highest-value business priorities. Evaluate emerging technologies, including generative AI and agentic engineering tools, and introduce them responsibly to improve productivity, quality, and investment workflows. Communicate delivery progress, operational health, risks, dependencies, investment needs, and strategic decisions effectively to technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior leadership. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. 9+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, application development, platform engineering, data engineering, or a related technology field. At least 3 years of formal people-management experience leading software engineering teams, including coaching, hiring, performance management, workforce planning, and talent development. Demonstrated experience delivering and operating business-critical technology products or platforms within complex enterprise environments. Professional experience supporting investments, asset management, investment accounting, capital markets, treasury, finance, or another financially oriented business function. Experience working in an agile, product-oriented technology environment and collaborating with Product, Architecture, Security, Data, Risk, and business stakeholders. Strong knowledge of modern software engineering practices, including APIs, modular services, event-driven architecture, automated testing, secure development, source control, CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure as code. Working knowledge of modern application, data, and cloud technologies such as Python, Java, C#/.NET, JavaScript or TypeScript, React, SQL, REST/GraphQL, Terraform, containers, serverless computing, workflow orchestration, and cloud data platforms. Hands-on understanding of AWS or a comparable public-cloud ecosystem, including compute, serverless services, containers, eventing, IAM, networking, monitoring, resilience, and cost management. Practical understanding of investment data and processes, including trade lifecycles, positions, transactions, reference data, pricing, valuations, cash, corporate actions, performance, risk, reconciliation, and investment accounting interfaces. Familiarity with front-, middle-, and back-office operating models and concepts such as IBOR and ABOR; knowledge of multi-basis accounting is advantageous. Experience with asset classes such as fixed income, equities, derivatives, structured assets, private credit, real estate, or other private-market investments is valuable. Ability to lead integrations with investment platforms, accounting systems, market-data providers, custodians, and internal data platforms; experience with comparable industry platforms is advantageous. Strong understanding of financial and insurance control environments, including auditability, data lineage, access controls, change management, segregation of duties, model governance, SOX ITGC, and SOC reporting. Exceptional judgment, communication, negotiation, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to translate effectively between technical, investment, accounting, risk, and executive audiences. Ability to manage competing priorities and dependencies, make sound decisions with incomplete information, and create clarity during periods of transformation. Demonstrated commitment to inclusive leadership, continuous learning, constructive feedback, and empowering engineering teams to own outcomes. A master’s degree in technology, engineering, business, finance, or a quantitative discipline is preferred. Experience in insurance or reinsurance investment operations, asset-liability management, private markets, large-scale modernization, responsible AI adoption, or managing blended teams of employees, consultants, partners, and vendors is particularly valuable. Potential eligibility for a long-term, equity-based performance incentive program. Comprehensive health and retirement benefits. Fully remote work arrangement.
