Barracuda’s XDR Engineering team is looking for a Software Senior Engineer to join the organization. The team builds the XDR customer-facing app, plus a lot of the behind-the-scenes integrations, services, and pipelines that power the product. Our product and our team are rapidly growing and you'll help shape and influence that growth (team processes & culture, app architecture, etc.) while also building out product depth & breadth. No prior cybersecurity knowledge is needed—but you will learn a lot about this hot topic while working here with us!

What you'll be working on:

• Design and develop new product features.
• Troubleshoot and fix problems in our apps and operation.
• Provide guidance and mentoring for other members of the software engineering team.

What you bring to the role:

• 5+ years of experience in a full-time software engineering role.
• Excellent communicator, both within your team and across teams/disciplines.
• Interest in leading projects through every stage, from initial idea to final delivery.
• A drive to constantly improve our products and our processes.
• 1+ years of experience with Node.js.
• 1+ years of experience with React.js.
• Experience with agentic AI development preferred.
• Experience with document databases such as Elasticsearch or MongoDB preferred.
• Experience with AWS preferred.
• Experience working with large streams of data preferred.

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and managing advanced ETL pipelines and scalable data architectures to handle large datasets and complex integrations. This role involves optimizing performance of data lakes and warehouses, overseeing data integration, and enforcing data security policies. The Senior Data Engineer creates detailed documentation, influences project outcomes, and applies specialized engineering knowledge to various issues. The role entails effective cross-functional collaboration to drive operational improvements and meet team goals.

Responsibilities

• Designs, builds, and manages advanced ETL pipelines and data workflows, ensuring scalability and efficiency for large datasets and complex integrations

• Implements performance improvements and optimizations for SQL and NoSQL databases, including query tuning, schema design, and indexing strategies • Develops and maintains scalable data architectures and data warehousing solutions, leveraging cloud technologies and big data platforms

• Oversees the integration and transformation of data from multiple sources, ensuring consistency and accuracy across different data platforms

• Designs and enforces data security policies and practices, including encryption, access controls, and compliance with data protection regulations

• Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for data architectures, pipelines, and processes, and prepare reports on data engineering activities and performance metrics

• Cultivates effective relationships with internal/external partners and provides influence over projects and peer groups, demonstrating full understanding of area of specialization

• Works under limited supervision and broad guidelines, regularly applying independent judgement on moderately complex matters

• Leverages specialized engineering knowledge in breadth and/or depth to a variety of projects within the team and works independently on several work areas within an engineering project

• Works in a project-oriented manner contributing towards team-level goals and suggests improvement to operational processes that influence team's delivery

Education

• Bachelor's/ master’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent

Experience

• 5-8 years of experience in data engineering, including designing and optimizing complex ETL pipelines and data processing workflows or equivalent

Certifications (preferred):

• AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty or equivalent certification in cloud data services. • Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer or equivalent certification
