Sr Software Engineer II - Ads Manager (Front End)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Software Engineer II - Ads Manager (Front End) based in Canada. This role offers the opportunity to shape the frontend technology behind a sophisticated self-service advertising platform used by brands, agencies, and retailers. You will own frontend technical direction while leading large, multi-quarter initiatives across campaign management, creative experiences, reporting, and optimization. Working closely with Product, Design, Backend, and Data Science teams, you will develop scalable interfaces and reusable engineering foundations. You will also drive improvements in architecture, performance, accessibility, observability, security, and developer productivity. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, cross-functional influence, and mentorship. It is well suited to a senior frontend engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and modernizing large-scale web applications.

Lead the technical roadmap and frontend architecture for complex advertising web applications, balancing immediate product delivery with long-term scalability and extensibility. Design, build, and maintain high-quality React interfaces supporting campaign creation, management, reporting, and optimization. Define and evolve reusable components, state-management patterns, and frontend abstractions that improve maintainability and enable faster product development. Partner with backend engineers on API and data contracts to build robust, observable, reliable, and cost-efficient systems. Collaborate with frontend technical leads and engineering peers to establish alignment around frontend standards, architecture, and best practices. Champion application performance, reliability, and observability through metrics, logging, tracing, monitoring, and operational readiness. Drive modernization initiatives, technical debt reduction, migrations, and refactoring of legacy frontend systems. Incorporate security-by-design principles into frontend architecture and help lead responses to significant security or reliability issues affecting critical user experiences. Lead cross-functional and cross-team technical initiatives, aligning stakeholders and driving execution across product and engineering teams. Partner closely with designers to create intuitive, high-quality experiences for complex advertiser workflows. Mentor and sponsor engineers through L5 level, contribute to onboarding and team practices, and help resolve cross-team execution challenges. Help establish effective practices for AI-assisted development tools across coding, testing, refactoring, and engineering workflows. Requirements: 8+ years of experience building modern web applications, with substantial ownership of complex, user-facing products. Deep expertise in Node.js and React, including hooks, state management, performance optimization, and development within large codebases. Strong frontend architecture skills spanning modularization, shared components, routing, data fetching, error handling, and scalable UI patterns. Experience designing and integrating REST and/or GraphQL APIs while working closely with backend engineering teams. Proven ability to lead large, ambiguous, multi-stakeholder technical initiatives from design and planning through rollout and ongoing operations. Demonstrated impact on engineering productivity and code quality through abstractions, tooling, testing, CI improvements, and development practices. Experience with web application monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog or similar technologies. Comfortable using AI-assisted developer tools in day-to-day engineering work and interested in helping teams scale their effective use. Excellent communication and collaboration skills when working with engineers, product managers, designers, data scientists, and other stakeholders. Experience building large-scale, data-intensive user interfaces such as analytics dashboards, editors, or complex workflows is preferred. Hands-on experience with GraphQL at scale, including schemas, client-side patterns, and performance considerations, is preferred. Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright is an advantage. Strong knowledge of frontend performance and reliability practices, including bundle optimization, code splitting, and resiliency patterns. Experience leading frontend modernization initiatives, framework upgrades, design system adoption, or legacy-system deprecation is preferred. Familiarity with design tools such as Figma and experience mentoring L3–L5 engineers are advantageous. Benefits: Competitive compensation based on the employee's permanent work location.
