Sr. Software Engineer (.NET, SQL)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer (.NET, SQL) based in India. This role offers the opportunity to design and develop modern, high-performing web applications supporting a global public relations technology platform. You’ll work across backend development, APIs, databases, cloud services, and frontend technologies to build scalable multi-user applications. The position combines hands-on engineering with technical design, code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. You’ll collaborate closely with Scrum teams to translate business requirements into well-defined user stories and reliable technical solutions. The role also provides exposure to cloud-hosted services, CI/CD, DevOps practices, Agile delivery, and enterprise-scale application architecture. You’ll contribute to both new product development and the ongoing enhancement and support of established platforms. Application development: Design and develop modern, high-performing, scalable web applications using established software engineering principles and best practices. Technical requirements: Review business requirements and collaborate with the team to break them down into clear, actionable user stories for the development backlog. Technical specifications: Create and maintain detailed technical specifications that provide clear guidance for development and implementation. Full-stack development: Develop application features using C#/.NET Web APIs, Node.js, and SQL Server , applying secure coding practices and comprehensive unit testing. API and service development: Build secure, reusable APIs, microservices, components, and modules designed for scalable and reliable application delivery. Code quality: Conduct code reviews and promote consistent coding standards, maintainability, security, performance, and overall engineering quality. Platform maintenance: Provide ongoing maintenance, technical support, troubleshooting, and enhancements for existing systems and application platforms. Cloud services: Participate in the implementation, operation, and troubleshooting of new cloud-based and cloud-hosted services across relevant environments. CI/CD: Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment processes to enable efficient and reliable software delivery. Agile collaboration: Participate in Scrum and planning meetings to coordinate work across development teams and ensure effective delivery of shared initiatives. DevOps improvement: Support the continuous evolution of Agile and DevOps practices, engineering standards, development workflows, and team processes. Performance and scalability: Monitor system performance and contribute to the design of highly scalable, reliable, and operable systems. Complex problem solving: Independently and collaboratively develop effective technical solutions for complex engineering and application challenges. Database engineering: Design SQL Server schemas, develop and optimise queries, and contribute to database performance and reliability. Technical architecture: Apply sound architectural principles across .NET, APIs, cloud services, dependency injection, ORM frameworks, hosting environments, and related technologies. Team contribution: Work collaboratively with engineers and stakeholders to accelerate delivery, share knowledge, and contribute to a strong engineering culture. Requirements Education and experience: Degree in Computer Science or a comparable qualification, combined with 5+ years of professional experience as a .NET software engineer . .NET expertise: Strong experience with .NET web application development, including build and deployment processes and practical experience with C#. API development: Expert-level experience developing secure APIs, microservices, reusable components, and modules. Frontend knowledge: Good understanding of JavaScript and TypeScript, with experience or familiarity with frontend frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue ; Angular is preferred. Cloud expertise: Good understanding of application development services on Azure or AWS , with relevant cloud certifications considered an advantage. Node.js: Good working knowledge of Node.js and its use within modern web application architectures. Enterprise applications: Experience developing enterprise-scale, multi-user applications in environments where scalability, security, and reliability are critical. Web API architecture: Solid understanding of designing and optimising Web APIs for large-scale usage. Microsoft technologies: Experience with Microsoft .NET Core, .NET Standard and/or .NET Framework , using C#. Software architecture: Understanding of dependency injection and Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks. Hosting: Experience with IIS hosting and enterprise web application deployment environments. SQL Server: Strong knowledge of SQL Server, including schema creation and query optimisation. Serverless development: Experience designing and developing serverless architectures using AWS services is desirable. Search technologies: Experience with Apache Solr would be an advantage. Agile methodologies: Practical experience working with Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum. Communication: Very good spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate clearly within collaborative, distributed engineering environments. Collaboration: Strong collaborative working habits and the ability to contribute positively to team delivery and shared technical objectives.
