Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Staff HDD Technical Marketing Analyst based in the United States. This is a senior technical marketing opportunity at the intersection of hard disk drive technology, manufacturing, product strategy, finance, and commercial planning. You will apply deep knowledge of HDD architecture, physics, component behavior, and manufacturing to develop quantitative models and business insights. Your analysis will help inform product roadmaps, competitive positioning, pricing strategies, customer discussions, and investment decisions. The role requires translating complex technical and manufacturing realities into clear, defensible recommendations for senior and executive stakeholders. You will collaborate across engineering, operations, sourcing, marketing, finance, and sales while influencing decisions through technical credibility and data. This fully remote position offers broad strategic visibility and the opportunity to strengthen analytical frameworks used for long-term technology and business decisions.
Develop and maintain quantitative models grounded in HDD architecture, physics, component behavior, and system-level interactions, ensuring analytical outputs accurately reflect real-world technical and manufacturing conditions. Incorporate cost estimates, sourcing considerations, technology constraints, engineering tolerances, manufacturing flows, and production realities into models spanning sourced components through final assembly and shipment. Create forecasts incorporating nominal expectations, sensitivities, and scenario analyses based on HDD market conditions, customer requirements, product designs, and factory assumptions. Analyze how technology choices influence factory throughput, scrap, production bottlenecks, test coverage, and long-term cost efficiency. Build detailed, bottom-up HDD cost models covering mechanical, magnetic, electronic, and production components and processes. Lead competitive cost teardowns, cost modeling, and scenario analysis, maintaining and continuously improving competitive cost analysis frameworks. Evaluate differences between competing HDD technologies and translate those differences into implications for cost, performance, sourcing, market positioning, and overall value competitiveness. Partner with pricing teams and portfolio leaders to provide technical insight that strengthens business, competitive, and portfolio analysis. Translate analytical findings into actionable inputs for product roadmaps, pricing decisions, warranty considerations, customer discussions, and investment priorities. Facilitate data-driven discussions across engineering, operations, manufacturing, technology strategy, sourcing, finance, marketing, and sales organizations. Influence senior-level decisions through technical expertise, objective analysis, and clearly documented assumptions and methodologies. Establish scalable analytical frameworks and maintain transparent, repeatable models that strengthen long-term decision-making capabilities. Requirements: Extensive professional experience in technical modeling, systems analysis, technology strategy, or a closely related discipline, with substantial experience applying quantitative analysis to complex technology environments. Deep understanding of HDD architecture, physics, component functions, manufacturing processes, and system-level behavior. Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, including demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, and improving structured technical and cost models. Strong understanding of the HDD competitive marketplace and the ability to translate market and technology knowledge into assessments of competitive cost, performance, and value. Experience maintaining competitive cost analysis models and conducting scenario analysis to evaluate technology and business tradeoffs. Experience working directly with storage devices, hardware platforms, infrastructure systems, or large-scale technology deployments. Familiarity with total cost of ownership analysis within the storage market or comparable complex hardware environments. Ability to work effectively with ambiguous requirements, incomplete information, and evolving business questions while maintaining analytical rigor. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical and analytical findings to senior stakeholders and external customers. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence diverse technical and business organizations, including engineering, operations, sourcing, marketing, finance, and sales. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Applied Sciences, Operations Research, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Ability to create objective, data-driven insights that stakeholders can rely on for roadmap, customer, commercial, and investment decisions. Ability to clearly explain complex technology, manufacturing, cost, and business tradeoffs to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise. U.S. work authorization without visa sponsorship is required; visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Ability to travel up to 25% as required.
