SSHRC's October 2026 Insight Grants competition supports social sciences and humanities research by emerging and established scholars for projects lasting two to five years.

Stream A supports requests from CAD 10,000 to 125,000 and Stream B supports CAD 125,001 to 500,000, with a maximum of CAD 125,000 available in a single year. Applications may be submitted by individual researchers or teams and are assessed through merit review.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants generally must be affiliated with an eligible Canadian postsecondary institution when applying and before funds can be released. Current postdoctoral fellows may apply but must establish eligible Canadian institutional affiliation within five months of the grant start; certain PhD candidates may apply if all PhD requirements will be completed before the award and the required affiliation is established. Students otherwise enrolled in a program are not eligible.
