You will report to the Director of Engineering
Lead the design and development of scalable, backend APIs and services that integrate with cloud services, with a focus on IBM Cloud
Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, and Partner teams to understand requirements and design interfaces that are intuitive and maintainable
Guide the evolution of Sysdig's managed service capabilities in cloud environments, specifically IBM Cloud
Influence long-term architecture and technical direction for Sysdig's integrations with IBM Cloud (IAM, authn/authz, service-to-service patterns, resiliency)
Champion quality, simplicity, and clarity in system design, API design, and data modeling
Provide technical leadership through design reviews, mentorship, and raising engineering standards
Experience designing and building distributed backend systems and APIs (data-heavy or high-throughput systems are a plus)
Experience with cloud fundamentals (compute, networking, identity, security), with the ability to ramp quickly on IBM Cloud specifics
Experience with IAM and access patterns (OAuth/OIDC, JWT, RBAC/policy-based access); IBM Cloud IAM experience is a plus
Good grasp of SaaS operations and Kubernetes (deployments, scaling, observability and incident response mindset)
Development experience in Java, Go, or similar languages
Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL data stores (e.g., Postgres plus other database systems)
Understanding of API best practices: versioning, backward compatibility, consistency, and access control
We appreciate interest in Cloud Security (CSPM/CDR/CIEM), but do not require it.
Proficiency with standard engineering tools (CI/CD pipelines, version control, containerization)
