Are you passionate about helping startup software companies scale globally using the cloud? We're looking for a technical leader to work alongside innovative startup ISVs in Japan, helping them build, monetize, and expand world-class solutions on AWS.
About Amazon Web Services
At Amazon, our vision is to be earth's most customer-centric company. In 2006, we launched Amazon Web Services, giving customers access to the same cloud technology we built to serve millions of shoppers on Amazon.com. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a secure cloud services platform, offering artificial intelligence, computing power, database storage, content delivery, and other functionality to help businesses scale and grow.
The Role
As a Startup Partner Solutions Architect, you will be the technical partner to ambitious startup ISVs building on AWS. You'll help them design solutions that scale, guide them to market through AWS Marketplace, and support their expansion across regions — turning great technology into thriving global businesses.
Japan's startup community is producing world-class software companies that are solving real problems for customers worldwide. In this role, you will own the technical relationship with these ISV partners — helping them architect for scale, integrate with AWS services, and craft compelling "better together" stories that resonate with customers.
Your goal is to help startup ISVs become successful AWS Software Partners. You'll work across the full lifecycle — from co-building solutions and navigating technical reviews, through monetization strategy and Marketplace listing, to global expansion across AWS regions.
You'll put exciting ideas to practical use, leveraging a broad set of cloud services across Compute, Storage, Databases, AI/ML, Analytics, and more. You'll help partners understand pricing models, design multi-region architectures, and package their solutions for go-to-market. When partners need to reach customers in markets where they lack local presence, you'll help them build tri-party models with regional Systems Integrators.
Day to day, you'll combine deep technical expertise with commercial acumen — one moment whiteboarding an architecture, the next advising on SaaS pricing strategy or coaching a partner through their Marketplace listing. You'll also provide technical thought leadership through blog posts, case studies, and community outreach.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Serve as the trusted technical advisor to startup ISV partners, helping them build scalable, well-architected solutions on AWS • Guide partners through the Foundational Technical Review (FTR) process, raising the bar on solution quality and enabling eligibility for co-sell programs • Advise on AWS Marketplace monetization strategies — including subscription, usage-based, tiered, and hybrid pricing models • Help partners design multi-region architectures that operate seamlessly across AWS regions with zero downtime • Develop go-to-market packaging (T-shirt sized offerings, field-ready kits) in partnership with business development teams • Create technical content — blog posts, reference architectures, case studies — to showcase partner solutions • Connect startup customers with the right consulting partners and support unmanaged partners serving the startup segment • Help emerging consulting partners build repeatable delivery models and advance within the AWS Partner Network
