This is a high-impact interim executive leadership opportunity supporting a large, multi-facility health system through a critical period of transformation. The role oversees enterprise-wide Hospital Billing (HB) and Professional Billing (PB) HIM and coding operations across hospitals and outpatient clinics. Partner with Revenue Cycle, Compliance, IT, and executive stakeholders to maintain coding accuracy, regulatory compliance, and data integrity. Establish, monitor, and report key performance indicators related to coding quality, productivity, turnaround time, and overall operational performance. Assess current-state operations and recommend organizational, staffing, and workflow enhancements to improve long-term effectiveness. Serve as the primary executive point of accountability for HIM and coding performance throughout the engagement. Requirements 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Health Information Management and coding within large, multi-facility healthcare organizations. Proven experience at the Senior Director, System Director, Vice President, or equivalent executive leadership level. Extensive expertise in both Hospital Billing (HB) and Professional Billing (PB) coding operations. Demonstrated success leading HIM and coding teams through Epic upgrades, go-lives, or major optimization initiatives. Experience managing multiple Director-level leaders and large, geographically distributed teams. Strong knowledge of coding compliance, revenue cycle operations, healthcare regulations, and performance improvement methodologies. Exceptional executive communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership skills. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is preferred. RHIA or RHIT certification strongly preferred; CCS or equivalent coding credential is a plus. Previous interim leadership or healthcare consulting experience is highly desirable. Ability to begin within an accelerated implementation timeline and travel as needed to support client sites. Benefits Fully remote U.S.-based opportunity with travel as required for client engagements. Interim executive leadership assignment with enterprise-level strategic impact. Opportunity to lead a large-scale Epic transformation across a major health system. Collaborative, autonomous, and mission-driven consulting environment. Eligibility for an annual performance bonus for qualifying salaried engagements. Additional benefits and employment perks may apply based on engagement terms. Compensation determined by experience, scope of responsibility, and engagement duration.
