Structural Steel Estimator

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Structural Steel Estimator based in Brazil. This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced estimator specializing in structural steel fabrication and erection projects. You will take ownership of estimates, detailed material takeoffs, labor calculations, and competitive bid preparation from initial inquiry through submission. The role sits at the center of project planning, working closely with project managers, sales teams, drafters, and clients. You will use technical drawings, specifications, and industry software to build accurate and commercially sound estimates. Your work will directly support project profitability, scope clarity, and schedule planning. The position offers significant autonomy and is suited to a detail-oriented professional who communicates clearly and takes pride in high-accuracy work.

Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for structural steel fabrication and erection projects from initial inquiry through competitive bid submission. Review and interpret structural blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, design documents, and project scope requirements. Develop detailed material takeoffs and calculate shop fabrication hours, field erection labor, equipment requirements, and material costs. Use estimating and design software to calculate quantities, model project scopes, and prepare competitive bid proposals. Communicate with project managers, sales representatives, detailers, and clients regarding estimate assumptions, scope boundaries, project requirements, and value engineering opportunities. Support project planning, project handoffs, and cost tracking throughout the construction lifecycle. Identify potential scope gaps and ask timely, precise clarification questions during the bidding process to improve estimate accuracy. Help maintain alignment between estimated costs, project requirements, profitability objectives, and schedule expectations. Requirements: 5+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience in structural steel estimating. Strong working knowledge of structural steel fabrication, detailing, and/or erection processes. Demonstrated ability to interpret structural drawings, engineering specifications, and construction documentation. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Excel, MS Project, Revit, and SketchUp. Fluent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate directly and effectively with leadership, project managers, and clients. Strong ownership mentality, exceptional attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities effectively in a fully remote environment with minimal supervision. Availability for a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week, aligned with Oregon / Pacific Time Zone working hours. Experience combining estimating with hands-on structural steel fabrication and detailing is a strong advantage. Experience working on commercial or complex structural metal projects is preferred. A consistent employment track record, including 3+ years in previous roles, is valued. Familiarity with Procore is a plus. A bachelor's degree is preferred, though equivalent practical industry experience may be considered. Benefits: Fully remote, full-time working arrangement. Monday to Friday schedule, 40 hours per week. Working hours aligned with the Oregon / Pacific Time Zone. Monthly compensation of $1,500–$2,500 USD, all-inclusive and based on experience.
