Supplier Quality Engineer (m/f/d)

Mission Brief  The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring externally supplied materials, components, assemblies, and special processes consistently meet company, customer, and regulatory requirements. Reporting within the Quality organization, this role serves as the primary quality interface between the company and its supply base to ensure supplier performance supports safe, reliable, and compliant aerospace manufacturing. The position leads supplier qualification, supplier performance management, supplier audits, source inspections, and supplier corrective action activities. Working closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, Product Assurance, and Quality teams, the Supplier Quality Engineer drives continuous improvement throughout the supplier network while reducing supplier-related quality risks. Your Role in Our Space Mission:  Plan and execute supplier qualification and approval activities for new and existing suppliers. Perform supplier audits, process audits, and capability assessments to verify compliance with applicable requirements and standards. Lead source inspections and verification activities at supplier facilities when required. Develop, maintain, and review supplier scorecards and supplier performance metrics. Manage supplier nonconformances and supplier corrective action processes to ensure timely and effective resolution. Conduct root cause analysis reviews and verify effectiveness of supplier corrective actions. Partner with Supply Chain and Engineering teams in supplier selection, development, and risk assessments. Support First Article Inspection, qualification, and industrialization activities involving external suppliers. Monitor supplier quality trends and proactively identify risks to quality, delivery, and operational performance. Drive supplier continuous improvement initiatives focused on defect prevention and process capability enhancement. Support incoming inspection organizations with supplier-related quality investigations and containment actions. Maintain supplier quality records, audit reports, and compliance documentation in accordance with applicable quality management system requirements. Qualification Checklist  Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline. Experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, Product Assurance, or Quality Engineering environments. Strong understanding of supplier qualification, supplier development, and supplier performance management processes. Experience planning and conducting supplier audits and process assessments. Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies and corrective action systems. Understanding of aerospace quality requirements including configuration control, traceability, and product conformity principles. Knowledge of EN9100, ISO 9001, and aerospace quality system requirements is advantageous. Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements. Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to travel to supplier sites as required. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a risk-based decision-making approach. Professional proficiency in English; German language skills are advantageous.
