Overview
The 2027–2028 Swiss Government Excellence Research Fellowship has a DPRK-specific upcoming application window from 15 September to 30 November 2026.
Complete fellowship details
The official 4 August 2026 country schedule lists only the Research Fellowship for applicants from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. It provides CHF 2,450 per month for basic living expenses, a CHF 600 one-time rental-deposit grant, compulsory health-insurance premiums for non-EU/EFTA scholarship holders, a Half-Fare Travelcard, and an eligible return-flight allowance. Tuition and semester fees are not covered by FCS.
Eligibility requirements
The DPRK country schedule targets postgraduate applicants with the required degrees and excludes higher physics, advanced computer simulation and related computer sciences, space navigation, nuclear engineering, aerospace engineering and related disciplines, higher materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and industrial engineering. Research-fellowship applicants also need an eligible completed master’s degree, a research proposal, and support from an academic supervisor in Switzerland under the current FCS rules.
Tips for this fellowship
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Secure an eligible Swiss academic supervisor before submitting the online application.
- Check the DPRK-specific excluded fields in the current A–Z schedule before preparing a proposal.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
