For China, the official 2027–2028 country table lists the Research Fellowship as the available scholarship type. The fellowship supports a full-time research project in Switzerland for 6 to 12 months starting September 1, 2027 and provides CHF 2,450 per month. Additional benefits for eligible non-EU/EFTA scholarship holders include compulsory health-insurance premiums, a CHF 600 rental-deposit grant, a Half-Fare Travelcard and a return-flight allowance. Tuition or semester fees are not generally covered.
Eligibility requirements
Research-fellowship applicants should be highly qualified early-career researchers from any academic field who are pursuing a PhD in their home country, including young medical doctors. The general 2027–2028 criteria include a Master's degree or equivalent completed by July 31, 2027 (June 30 for ETH Zurich), birth after December 31, 1991, a detailed research plan, and a support letter from an academic supervisor in Switzerland.
