System Architect (MDDI/MBSE)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a System Architect (MDDI/MBSE) based in United States. As a System Architect, you’ll help shape enterprise architecture and digital engineering capabilities for a large-scale transformation program supporting mission-critical transportation and logistics operations. You’ll use Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to develop authoritative system models, architecture views, and end-to-end mission threads. The role combines systems engineering, enterprise architecture, integration, and digital thread strategy within a mature engineering environment. You’ll translate complex operational and technical requirements into scalable architectures while maintaining traceability across requirements, interfaces, workflows, and data. Working with engineering, cybersecurity, functional, and program teams, you’ll help resolve cross-domain dependencies and establish effective architecture governance. This position offers the opportunity to influence enterprise transformation, technology roadmaps, and model-driven decision-making in a highly regulated environment.

Lead the development and maintenance of system, operational, data, and integration architectures using MBSE and DoDAF/UAF frameworks. Develop and manage SysML/UML system models covering requirements, interfaces, workflows, data, and end-to-end mission threads with full traceability. Drive digital engineering strategy, including adoption of the digital thread, authoritative models, and model-driven decision-making. Translate business, operational, and technical requirements into scalable solution architectures supporting enterprise platforms and integrations. Define integration patterns, interface specifications, and interoperability requirements across government and partner systems. Establish architecture governance, modeling standards, technical baselines, and processes supporting design reviews and leadership briefings. Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, functional, and program teams to identify and resolve risks, gaps, and cross-domain dependencies. Contribute to technology roadmaps, transition plans, and implementation strategies for enterprise transformation initiatives. Support the integration of commercial off-the-shelf and enterprise platforms with customized systems and mission environments. Communicate technical architecture concepts and recommendations to both technical teams and senior stakeholders. Support continuous improvement of digital engineering practices, modeling methodologies, and architecture processes. Requirements: U.S. citizenship with an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one. 7+ years of experience designing enterprise, system, or solution architectures within Department of Defense or comparable environments. Demonstrated systems engineering experience, including decomposition of complex systems and modeling of structure, behavior, interfaces, and data. Working knowledge of SysML/UML modeling approaches and experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, or GENESYS. Familiarity with DoDAF, UAF, or comparable architecture frameworks. Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to brief technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to understand needs and translate them into practical architecture solutions. Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with a professional and collaborative approach. Creativity, adaptability, and structured problem-solving skills. 5+ years of hands-on MBSE or digital engineering experience in complex systems environments is preferred. Experience supporting defense logistics, transportation, or ERP modernization programs is preferred. Experience integrating COTS or ERP platforms with customized government systems is a plus. Familiarity with cloud architectures, DevSecOps, and Zero Trust environments such as AWS GovCloud or IL4/IL5 is preferred. Knowledge of defense acquisition lifecycles and business process reengineering is beneficial. Relevant certifications such as INCOSE CSEP/ESEP, OCSMP, TOGAF, SAFe, AWS, or Azure are preferred. Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams. Strong customer and vendor relationship management skills. Demonstrated ability to follow data standards, policies, and governance requirements. Willingness to learn and apply new technologies and methodologies that improve program outcomes.
