Technical Consultant, Modern Apps

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical Consultant, Modern Apps based in India. This hands-on role focuses on building and modernizing production-quality software across client engagements. You will design, develop, test, debug, and deploy applications across modern technology stacks. The position offers ownership of defined features, components, and small workstreams with limited supervision. You will work alongside experienced technical consultants while contributing directly to client-facing delivery teams. AI-assisted development is central to the role, with opportunities to use AI throughout the software development lifecycle. You will also help mentor junior engineers while building strong technical judgment and client communication skills.

Deliver hands-on software development across greenfield and brownfield application engagements. Design, write, test, debug, and deploy production-quality code across modern application stacks. Own defined features, components, and small workstreams from implementation through delivery with limited supervision. Create and maintain automated tests and validate that solutions meet functional, performance, and security expectations. Participate in code reviews as both an author and reviewer, providing constructive feedback on correctness, readability, and maintainability. Use AI-assisted development tools daily for code generation, refactoring, debugging, test creation, and documentation. Apply AI to broader software development lifecycle activities, including test coverage, engineering documentation, story refinement, and technical research. Review and validate AI-generated output before incorporating it into production code or project deliverables. Produce clear component-level and feature-level designs and communicate them effectively to technical teams and clients. Apply established design patterns appropriately and identify common implementation anti-patterns. Coach Associate and Senior Associate Technical Consultants through pairing, code reviews, and day-to-day technical guidance. Own the quality, timelines, and handoffs for assigned work while identifying and escalating risks or blockers early. Serve as a dependable technical contact for client project stakeholders and present and defend your work during customer sessions. Requirements: Working proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Java, C#, JavaScript, or Python. Demonstrated ability to write, test, debug, and deliver production-quality software with limited supervision. Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile delivery practices. Practical experience with automated testing and testing strategies for reliable, production-ready applications. Working knowledge of software design patterns and anti-patterns, with the ability to create component-level and feature-level design artifacts. Experience building or modernizing applications, APIs, and cloud-native services using modern development frameworks and DevOps practices. Working knowledge of security principles, CI/CD, source control, logging, monitoring, and other operational fundamentals. Proficiency with AI development tools, particularly Claude Code; experience with Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, Continue.dev, or similar tools is valued. Ability to apply prompting, context management, and output validation techniques and use AI for coding, testing, documentation, and technical research. Ability to work independently within defined scopes, manage competing priorities, and recognize when ambiguous or high-risk decisions require escalation. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and work clearly to client project stakeholders. Consulting or professional services experience in custom application development or modernization is preferred. Experience contributing to legacy or brownfield application modernization is valued. Experience with messaging, event-streaming, or integration technologies is a plus. Experience across multiple delivery patterns, such as web, mobile, API, integration, or serverless applications, is beneficial. Relevant cloud platform certifications are advantageous.
