At BlackForest Solutions (BFS), we are redefining waste management on a global scale through high-impact consultancy projects across diverse regions and waste streams. We are currently looking for a motivated and technically strong Technical Consultant to join our growing team.

In this role, you will contribute to solid and hazardous waste management consultancy assignments, support project delivery, and develop practical, context-specific solutions for our clients. You will work closely with senior consultants and project managers, gradually taking on more responsibility in technical analysis, reporting, and client interaction. Depending on the project, on-site presence at client locations may be required, alongside remote and office-based work. The position is location-flexible, and candidates do not need to be based in Berlin.

Your Tasks

Responsibilities

  1. Technical Consultancy Support
  • Contribute to technical analyses related to solid waste management, including selected aspects of hazardous waste management.
  • Support the preparation of technical concepts, assessments, and recommendations under the guidance of senior consultants.
  • Research and apply relevant waste management regulations, standards, and best practices at national, regional, and international levels.
  • Assist in adapting technical solutions to local regulatory, institutional, and operational contexts.
  1. Project Implementation and Client Interaction
  • Support the planning and implementation of consultancy projects, including tracking tasks, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Participate in client meetings, workshops, and, where applicable, on-site activities such as facility visits, assessments, and stakeholder workshops, depending on project needs.
  • Contribute to maintaining positive and professional client relationships through reliable delivery and technical input.
  1. Report Writing and Documentation
  • Draft high-quality technical reports, presentations, and deliverables in line with client requirements and international standards.
  • Support data collection, analysis, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and consistency across project outputs.
  • Incorporate feedback from senior team members to continuously improve the quality of written deliverables.
  1. Team Collaboration and Learning
  • Work closely with project teams across technical, financial, and policy disciplines.
  • Actively participate in internal knowledge sharing, trainings, and team development activities.
  • Continuously develop technical and consulting skills through on-the-job learning and mentoring.
  1. Process Awareness and Continuous Improvement
  • Follow established internal processes for project delivery, quality assurance, and documentation.
  • Contribute ideas for improving tools, templates, and workflows as experience grows.
  • Stay informed about emerging waste management technologies, regulatory developments, and industry trends.

Qualifications And Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field, with a focus on waste management, environmental engineering, or similar disciplines.

Experience

  • 3 years of relevant professional experience in solid waste management or related environmental consultancy fields.

  • Initial experience with hazardous waste management is an asset, but not mandatory.
  • Experience supporting consultancy projects, studies, or technical assessments is preferred.

Languages

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Additional languages (e.g., German, Arabic, French, Spanish, Portuguese) are an asset and may be relevant depending on the project region.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Familiarity with data analysis, technical reporting, and basic project coordination and management tools (e.g., awork) is an advantage.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic project environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work on-site at client locations when required by the project.
