The programme supports hands-on work in software development, computing infrastructure, mathematics or robotics. CERN lists an ideal start date of April 1, 2027, 40 weekly hours and a monthly tax-free allowance of CHF 3,486. Benefits also include 30 days of paid leave per year, health-insurance coverage subject to the programme's contribution rules, possible family supplement and travel expenses to Geneva depending on individual circumstances.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be nationals of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State, have completed at least 18 months of relevant studies by selection, remain enrolled full-time during the studentship, and have good English or French. PhD students and degree holders are not eligible for this studentship. The current posting notes temporary nationality ceilings for Pakistani, Lithuanian, Latvian, Cypriot and Croatian nationals.
