Observe and document daily construction activities for transportation infrastructure projects Inspect roadway, bridge, drainage, utility, pedestrian facility, asphalt paving, resurfacing, and safety improvement work Verify construction work complies with project plans, specifications, contract requirements, safety requirements, and quality standards Sample and test construction materials, as required Measure quantities and maintain accurate project records Review contractor submittals and report non-compliance issues Complete daily inspection reports and project documentation Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to support successful project delivery
High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 3 years of transportation construction inspection experience Experience inspecting roadway, bridge, asphalt, concrete, drainage, utility, pedestrian facility, or earthwork construction activities Ability to work in field environments and support project needs in the Florence/Myrtle Beach, SC area Valid driver’s license Strong math, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
Associate degree in engineering technology or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering SCDOT inspection experience Current DOT or SCDOT certifications South Carolina certifications such as Concrete Technician, Asphalt Roadway Technician, Earthwork & Base Technician, Foundations Certification, or Nuclear Gauge Safety Certification
