Overview
Uppsala University is recruiting two full-time PhD students in chemistry for research on photoactive metal complexes, lanthanide-catalyzed transformations, spectroscopy and small-molecule activation. The positions are based at the Department of Chemistry - Ångström and are planned to start on 1 October 2026 or as agreed.
Complete research opportunity details
The doctoral projects combine organic and coordination chemistry with photochemistry, catalysis, electrochemistry and spectroscopy. Researchers will synthesize ligands and metal complexes, characterize their chemical and photophysical behaviour, evaluate catalytic performance, publish and present research results, and may supervise undergraduate students. Doctoral work may include teaching or other departmental duties up to 20 percent.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must meet Uppsala University's doctoral-study entry requirements in chemistry or a related field, including a second-cycle degree or equivalent higher-education credits.
