UCREA invites high-level research teams to submit ambitious, multi- or transdisciplinary projects with a strong international component across the arts, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences. Funding is up to CRC 30,000,000 per project for a two-year period. Proposals must be submitted digitally to esteban.chaves@ucr.ac.cr with a copy to ucrea.apoyo@ucr.ac.cr. The budget may include travel and stays for foreign participants visiting Costa Rica, but does not cover researcher remuneration, consultancy payments or academic workload assignment.
Eligibility requirements
The project coordinator must be a University of Costa Rica researcher and is responsible for budgetary and operational execution. Projects must be team-based rather than individual and should develop innovative, high-level multi- or transdisciplinary research with interinstitutional and international networks. Team members should preferably hold academic master's degrees and the coordinator should normally hold a doctorate, although the UCREA Academic Council may consider experienced research leaders without a doctorate. Coordinators of active UCREA projects may not submit a new proposal until their final report is approved.
