UNAH is accepting 2026 applications for institutional incentives tied to formal intellectual-property protection of university innovations, including patents, utility models, software, integrated-circuit layouts and industrial designs.

The call supports formal protection processes in which UNAH is a co-owner. Published incentive amounts are HNL 35,000 for an admitted national or international patent application, HNL 25,000 for a utility model or software registration, HNL 15,000 for an integrated-circuit layout, and HNL 7,000 for an industrial design. The average total recognition per researcher co-owner may not exceed HNL 105,000. Requests received through 15 November may be evaluated and paid in fiscal year 2026; requests from 16 November through 31 December may be evaluated in 2026 and paid in 2027 subject to budget availability.
Eligibility requirements
UNAH must appear as co-owner of the protected asset. The responsible co-owner must be a current UNAH employee or active student. Only applications or registrations dated between 1 January and 31 December 2026 are eligible; ideas or prototypes without a formal protection process and innovations publicly disclosed without prior protection are excluded.
