UNFPA Syria is recruiting a national intern to support its Qamishli, Homs, Deir ez-Zor and Aleppo sub-offices with AI, digital tools, programme data, dashboards, knowledge management and related innovation work.

The intern supports identification and development of AI-enabled and other digital solutions, data collection and cleaning, analysis, monitoring and evaluation, dashboards and reporting, digital content, research on AI trends, data governance and ethical AI, and learning activities. Expected outputs include support for an AI or digital prototype/tool, monthly progress reporting and a final internship report. UNFPA states that interns do not receive salary; an intern may receive a stipend for basic daily expenses when not financially supported by another institution or programme. Interns arrange accommodation and travel and must carry medical insurance.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be enrolled in a first university degree after completing at least one academic year, enrolled in a postgraduate degree, be a recent university graduate who can start within one year of graduation, or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional trainee programme. Relevant study includes computer science, data science, IT, engineering or social sciences with strong digital/technical skills. UNFPA also requires development interest, adaptability, written/spoken proficiency in at least one UN working language identified on the vacancy as Arabic and English, and lists fluency in English among the desired qualifications.
