For MEXT recipients, current 2026 stipend levels are JPY 144,000/month for master's students and JPY 145,000/month for doctoral students, with an additional JPY 2,000–3,000 for designated research locations; MEXT recipients are exempt from entrance and annual tuition fees. The program says the other two scholarship stipends are almost the same total amount as MEXT.
