Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Vice President, Electric Cooperative Markets based in United States. This is a senior, high-impact individual contributor role focused on shaping growth across the electric cooperative market. You will own market strategy, positioning, executive relationships, and pipeline development for distributed grid capacity solutions. The role offers significant autonomy and direct exposure to cooperative executives, general managers, board members, and industry leaders. You will help identify high-value opportunities, influence account strategy, and bring market intelligence into broader business decisions. Working closely with commercial, technical, program, and operational teams, you will help move opportunities from initial engagement through proposal and negotiation. The position is fully remote in the United States, with approximately 40% or more travel expected for stakeholder meetings and industry events. Success will be measured through market development, executive access, qualified pipeline creation, and conversion of opportunities into signed programs.

Own and evolve the overall strategy, positioning, and engagement approach for the electric cooperative market, identifying where the organization should focus resources and partnerships. Develop and expand senior-level relationships with electric cooperative executives, general managers, board members, industry associations, and other influential stakeholders. Represent the organization externally at industry conferences, association events, and executive meetings while serving as a senior point of access into the cooperative ecosystem. Build relationships with national, state, and regional electric cooperative associations and use market access to expand the addressable opportunity pipeline. Identify, qualify, and prioritize high-value opportunities, taking accountability for measurable pipeline influence against growth objectives. Partner with senior commercial leaders to shape account strategies, scope opportunities, develop proposals, and support negotiations, transitioning day-to-day deal ownership as opportunities approach final contracting. Coordinate cross-functional activity across growth, programs, technical, and operational teams to move cooperative opportunities toward signed distributed capacity programs. Maintain a strong understanding of cooperative market dynamics, including capacity needs, load growth, purchasing considerations, governance structures, and investment priorities. Translate market developments, customer needs, competitive dynamics, and partnership opportunities into actionable recommendations for executive leadership. Influence organizational priorities and resource allocation through informed market insight, strategic judgment, and a clear understanding of the cooperative ecosystem. Requirements 10+ years of experience in business development, market development, strategic partnerships, or a related discipline within the utility, energy, infrastructure, or adjacent sectors. Proven experience owning and evolving a market, customer segment, or channel strategy from end to end. An established and active network of electric cooperative executives, general managers, board members, or other senior stakeholders gained through relevant professional experience. Demonstrated ability to independently develop market strategy and represent an organization credibly at the executive level. Working knowledge of electric cooperative governance, member-owned structures, and the factors influencing cooperative purchasing and investment decisions. Strong ability to influence and coordinate cross-functional teams without relying on formal management authority. Ability and willingness to travel frequently, approximately 40% or more, for executive meetings, conferences, association events, and other market activities. Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. Experience with utility-scale battery storage, generation, distributed capacity, grid infrastructure, or related solutions is preferred. Familiarity with generation and transmission as well as distribution cooperative dynamics, including load growth, wholesale power arrangements, and capacity planning, is advantageous. Existing relationships with national or state and regional electric cooperative associations are a plus. Strong executive communication, relationship-building, negotiation, strategic thinking, and commercial judgment skills. Comfortable operating with substantial autonomy, making decisions with limited day-to-day direction, and knowing when executive involvement is required. Able to collaborate effectively with commercial, technical, program, and operational teams while maintaining ownership of market strategy. Demonstrated ability to build trust with C-suite, general manager, and board-level stakeholders in relationship-driven environments. Benefits Base salary of $195,000–$225,000 per year , with individual placement based on experience, capabilities, competencies, scope, internal alignment, and other business factors. Potential eligibility for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation, subject to applicable plan terms and performance. Employer-subsidized medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. 401(k) plan with a 2% employer match. Flexible vacation policy and paid federal holidays. Flexible Fridays, including half-day Fridays each week. 12 weeks of gender-neutral paid caregiver leave. One-time work-from-home stipend for eligible remote employees. $100 monthly phone and internet allowance. Fully remote work arrangement available anywhere in the United States. Significant autonomy and executive-level exposure within a growth-focused market development role. Opportunity to shape strategy and build relationships across the electric cooperative ecosystem. Approximately 40%+ travel to meet stakeholders and participate in industry conferences and association events.
