Founders Classical Academy Online seeks to cultivate in students a disciplined understanding of the natural world through the study of scientific principles and the observation of nature’s order and complexity.

Scientific study encourages curiosity, precision, and careful reasoning while helping students understand the structure and laws governing the natural world.

Position Summary

The Science Teacher will guide students in the study of the natural world through observation, experimentation, and structured inquiry. Instruction emphasizes scientific reasoning, evidence-based thinking, and the careful study of natural phenomena.

Students explore scientific principles through experimentation, analysis, and conceptual understanding. The teacher provides clear instruction, encourages curiosity, and helps students develop disciplined scientific thinking.

Instruction should balance conceptual understanding, laboratory inquiry, and scientific literacy while maintaining strong academic expectations in the virtual classroom.

Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will be required several times per year to support in person state testing and student events.

Eligibility: Open to residents of Texas

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver rigorous science instruction aligned with TEKS standards

  • Guide students in scientific reasoning, experimentation, and observation

  • Explain scientific concepts through clear instruction and demonstrations

  • Assess student learning through labs, projects, exams, and written analysis

  • Encourage students to engage thoughtfully with scientific inquiry

  • Maintain strong communication with students and families

  • Participate in faculty collaboration and professional development

  • Utilize virtual instructional tools effectively for science instruction

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related scientific field

  • Strong subject-matter expertise in scientific concepts

  • Ability to communicate complex scientific ideas clearly

  • Ability to teach effectively in a virtual environment

Preferred

  • Texas Teaching Certification (Science 4–8 or 7–12)

  • Master’s degree in a scientific discipline or education

  • Experience teaching science in a classical curriculum environment

  • Experience with online learning platforms
