Virtual Patient Companion

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Virtual Patient Companion based in the United States. This part-time role supports patient safety through continuous remote observation from a centralized monitoring location. You will use telemonitoring technology to observe multiple patients and identify behaviors or situations that may require intervention. The position combines focused monitoring, clear communication, rapid response, and close collaboration with nursing teams. You will help protect patients by providing timely verbal redirection and escalating concerns when assistance is needed. The role requires the ability to manage multiple situations simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. You will work in a healthcare environment where confidentiality, professionalism, teamwork, and patient-centered care are essential. The position may involve day and night rotations, including PRN scheduling based on operational needs.

Continuously monitor assigned patients remotely through a centralized telemonitoring system, with the ability to observe multiple patients simultaneously. Maintain focused visual observation and identify patient behaviors or changes that could indicate a safety concern. Verbally redirect patients through a digital two-way audio system when appropriate and within the scope of the role. Immediately notify or summon nursing staff through the designated alarm or communication system when a patient requires assistance or intervention. Prioritize simultaneous patient situations and respond promptly according to established procedures. Participate in shift handoffs by communicating relevant patient behaviors, observations, and safety information. Coordinate meal breaks and notify appropriate staff before leaving the monitoring station to ensure uninterrupted patient observation. Provide patients with clear explanations when appropriate without offering medical counseling, personal opinions, or clinical advice. Use telemonitoring and communication technology effectively, including the designated TeleSitter solution. Follow organizational and departmental policies, safety procedures, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. Maintain professional and respectful communication with patients, visitors, coworkers, and healthcare professionals. Collaborate with management and colleagues to support a safe, respectful, and team-oriented care environment. Follow standard precautions and use required personal protective equipment. Requirements High school diploma or GED. General knowledge of hospital or healthcare environments. Ability to monitor up to approximately 15 patients on a single screen while prioritizing multiple situations. Strong attention to detail, concentration, and ability to work within precise accuracy requirements. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients using a microphone and headset. Ability to communicate quickly and accurately with nursing and other hospital staff when patient behavior changes. Strong judgment, discretion, courtesy, and professionalism when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues. Ability to remain focused while sitting for extended periods. Ability to manage a high level of mental concentration and respond appropriately to changing situations. Previous hospital experience is preferred. Previous clinical or direct patient care experience is preferred. Nurse Assistant or Medical Assistant certification is preferred. Familiarity with telemonitoring or patient observation systems is an advantage. Ability to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 10 pounds and perform frequent grasping and reaching as required by the role.
