Visual Design Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Visual Design Lead based in Canada . This is a senior visual design leadership role shaping the creative direction of complex digital products and experiences across web, mobile, and responsive platforms. You’ll guide projects from early concepts through execution, maintaining a strong visual vision and consistently high design standards. The role combines hands-on design leadership with systems thinking, stakeholder influence, and mentorship of visual designers. You’ll work closely with Product, UX, Engineering, and Creative teams to translate product goals into cohesive, intuitive, and scalable experiences. A major focus will be building and evolving design systems, reusable UI components, and visual standards that can scale across broader product ecosystems. You’ll also help strengthen design practices through thoughtful feedback, clear communication, experimentation, and continuous creative improvement. This is a remote, fast-paced, collaborative environment where strong craft, ownership, accessibility, and cross-functional partnership are highly valued.

Lead the visual design direction across complex digital products, platforms, and experiences, ensuring a clear and cohesive creative vision from concept through execution. Lead, mentor, and provide creative direction to visual designers throughout the design process, establishing strong standards for quality and consistency. Build, evolve, and maintain scalable design systems and reusable UI components that support cohesive experiences across products and platforms. Translate broader product and platform goals into thoughtful, high-quality visual solutions that balance user needs, business objectives, and technical considerations. Partner closely with Product, UX, Engineering, and Creative teams to develop solutions that work effectively across complex digital ecosystems. Apply systems thinking across detailed UI execution while maintaining awareness of broader product, platform, and experience goals. Champion accessibility, usability, consistency, and visual quality throughout the design process and across final deliverables. Own projects from concept through execution, maintaining a strong visual direction while adapting to evolving requirements and constraints. Communicate design decisions clearly, explain trade-offs, and provide thoughtful rationale to stakeholders and clients. Review design work, establish direction, and deliver constructive feedback that strengthens consistency and quality across deliverables. Collaborate effectively within Agile, fast-paced, and distributed teams while contributing to a culture of learning, experimentation, and continuous creative improvement. Requirements: 7+ years of experience designing digital products and experiences across web, mobile, and responsive platforms. Proven experience leading and mentoring visual design teams, providing creative direction, and establishing design standards and processes. Strong expertise in creating, evolving, and maintaining scalable Design Systems and reusable UI components. Experience working across complex product ecosystems in close partnership with Product, UX, and Engineering teams. Strong systems thinking, with the ability to balance detailed UI execution with broader product, platform, and business objectives. Solid understanding of interaction design, accessibility, usability, and user-centered design principles. Demonstrated ability to communicate design decisions clearly, articulate trade-offs, and take ownership throughout the design lifecycle. Experience taking digital projects from concept through execution while maintaining high standards for visual quality, consistency, and usability. Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, align, and communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams. Comfortable working in Agile, fast-paced, remote environments where priorities can evolve quickly. Strong creative judgment, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. Benefits: Salary: $106,000–$135,000 USD, with placement within the range depending on experience, qualifications, specialization, market conditions, and other applicable factors. Work arrangement: Fully remote within the United States.
