This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Workforce Tax Manager based in United States. This role offers the opportunity to advise multinational organizations on complex, cross-border workforce mobility and tax matters. You’ll help clients navigate expatriate tax compliance, international assignments, tax equalization, and evolving global mobility requirements. Working within a collaborative team of problem solvers, you’ll contribute to engagements from strategy through execution while building trusted client relationships. The position combines technical expertise, consulting, team leadership, and technology-enabled solutions. You’ll use data, automation, and digital tools to improve client outcomes and engagement efficiency. You’ll also coach team members, manage diverse perspectives, and help develop practical recommendations for complex business challenges. This is a full-time hybrid opportunity based in San Jose.
Advise multinational clients on cross-border employee movement, expatriate matters, foreign tax compliance, and tax equalization programs. Manage international assignee populations and support clients throughout complex global workforce mobility engagements. Design and administer expatriate tax program policies while identifying client needs and developing tailored solutions. Build, maintain, and leverage strong client relationships and professional networks while communicating the value of recommended solutions. Manage engagement resources, project workflows, budgets, billing, collections, and related deliverables. Analyze complex information and multiple stakeholder perspectives to develop meaningful recommendations and support informed decision-making. Use data and insights to identify trends, strengthen recommendations, and address complex client and business issues. Lead and coach team members, encourage ownership and professional development, and provide timely, constructive feedback. Address quality issues and ensure work meets appropriate client and professional standards. Support innovation through automation and digitization, including the use of technology to streamline engagements and improve efficiency. Work with large and complex datasets, data models, and visualization tools to generate insights for clients. Contribute to pricing strategies and alternative fee arrangements using appropriate pricing tools and business analysis. Develop perspectives on global workforce trends and their potential impact on clients and their mobility programs. Requirements At least 7 years of relevant professional experience. At least one of the following certifications is required: CPA, Enrolled Agent, Member of the Bar, Global Mobility Specialist Certification, Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR), or Professional in Human Resources (PHR). Extensive knowledge of cross-border employee mobility, including foreign national and expatriate issues, foreign tax compliance, and tax equalization processes. Proven experience managing international assignee populations for multinational clients, preferably within a professional services environment. Strong experience designing and administering expatriate tax program policies and addressing complex client requirements. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships, communicate value propositions, and prepare or coordinate complex written and verbal materials. Considerable team leadership experience, including supervising teams, fostering trust, encouraging diverse perspectives, and coaching employees. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear recommendations. Ability to manage multiple viewpoints, build consensus, and create positive outcomes across stakeholders. Self-driven, adaptable, and comfortable developing new skills and working outside your comfort zone. Familiarity with CRM systems is preferred. Knowledge of automation, digitization, and emerging technologies within professional services is preferred. Experience working with large datasets, data visualization, and technology-enabled solutions to improve engagement efficiency is valuable. Familiarity with alternative fee arrangements and pricing strategies is preferred. Benefits Salary range of $106,200–$174,500 , with individual compensation based on education, geographic location, and alignment with market data. Full-time, regular employment.
