We’re not looking for a jack-of-all-trades, but rather an exceptional visual talent: an Associate Creative Director (ACD) of Design who combines outstanding visual craftsmanship (graphic design, typography, branding systems) with strong spatial thinking. You’re a top designer at heart, but you think far beyond the two-dimensional plane. You translate brand identities into consistent visual worlds that can be seamlessly translated into physical spaces, temporary installations, retail concepts, and digital touchpoints. Presence & Flexibility (On-Site in Munich):

Working from home and remote work are part of our everyday routine, and we’re extremely flexible in this regard. However, since this is a central leadership role, we’re looking for someone to join our office in Munich. As a creative lead, we expect you to be physically present on-site on a regular basis to stay close to the team, directly support co-creation processes, and actively shape the creative culture in the studio. As an experienced lead, you know how to not only bring your creative vision to life on paper yourself, but also how to lead and inspire an interdisciplinary design team and elevate the visual quality of our projects to the very highest level.

At Avantgarde, you’ll work at the intersection of brand, space, technology, and strategy—together with specialists from the fields of Strategy & Concept, GraphicDesign, 3D/Architektur, Digital and Production

Your Tasks

• Visual Direction & Excellence: You define and are responsible for the visual concept and design quality for international brands—from the initial pitch layout to the final implementation in the physical space.
• The Intersection of Graphic Design and Space: You translate complex brand strategies into outstanding visual systems that function perfectly in physical and three-dimensional contexts (scenography, retail, brand spaces).
• Team Leadership & Mentoring: You lead, inspire, and develop a team of designers (graphic, motion, spatial graphics). In doing so, you provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level creatives and foster a culture of visual excellence.
• Interdisciplinary Co-Creation: As the lead creative, you’ll collaborate on an equal footing with our designers, architects, and concept developers to ensure that visual identity and physical space form a perfect unity.
• Project Responsibility & Quality: You’ll take creative responsibility for key large-scale projects and pitches, ensure adherence to design guidelines, and keep a close eye on quality, timelines, and budget.
• Confident Client Engagement: You’ll package sophisticated design concepts into compelling, visually flawless pitches, provide strategic advice to our clients, and present your ideas with charisma and clear reasoning.

• Spatial Awareness: You love space. You can visualize concepts in three dimensions and understand how graphics, light, materials, and architecture interact.
• Leadership Skills with Empathy: You bring extensive experience in professional leadership, motivating, and mentoring younger colleagues. You can provide guidance, give constructive feedback, and foster talent in a targeted manner.
• Conceptual & Strategic Depth: You don’t just design “beautifully”—you always design with a solid strategic foundation, based on a deep understanding of the brand and its target audience.
• Challenger Mindset & Confidence: You have a clear creative vision, strong communication skills, and the courage and mindset to constructively challenge existing opinions and briefs in order to achieve the best possible result.
