FP&A Manager, Technical Operations

Dublin

The FP&A Manager – Supply Chain and Gross Margin will be a key member of the TOPS Finance team, providing financial planning and analytical support for BioMarin’s global supply chain organization and gross margin performance. This role will partner closely with Supply Chain leadership, TOPS Finance colleagues, Commercial Finance, Global FP&A, Manufacturing Finance, Accounting, Procurement, and other cross-functional stakeholders to translate operational activity into clear financial insights and actionable business recommendations.

The successful candidate will support budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, monthly business reviews, inventory and working capital analysis, gross margin forecasting, COGS analysis, variance commentary, scenario modelling, and key performance reporting. The role requires strong technical finance capability, excellent business partnering skills, and the ability to connect supply chain operations, inventory movements, standard cost dynamics, non-standard COGS, and gross margin outcomes in a complex multinational biotechnology environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning, Forecasting, and Reporting

• Support the annual operating plan, quarterly forecast, long-range planning, and monthly close processes for Supply Chain and related gross margin areas.
• Partner with Supply Chain and TOPS Finance stakeholders to develop robust financial plans that reflect operational priorities, patient supply requirements, inventory strategies, and enterprise financial targets.
• Prepare and communicate monthly and quarterly performance analysis, including budget versus actuals, forecast comparisons, risks and opportunities, and key business drivers.
• Develop high-quality financial reporting and management presentations for TOPS Finance leadership, Supply Chain leadership, Global FP&A, and senior management audiences.
• Maintain strong planning discipline, calendar management, and process rigor across recurring planning cycles and ad hoc deliverables.

Supply Chain Finance Business Partnership

• Serve as a finance business partner to Supply Chain leaders, providing financial insight and challenge to support decision-making across planning, logistics, distribution, inventory, clinical supply, commercial supply, and supply network activities.
• Participate in sales and operations planning, supply review, and related cross-functional forums where financial input is required to support demand, supply, inventory, and working capital decisions.
• Provide financial analysis and scenario modelling to evaluate supply options, inventory strategies, tariff exposure, distribution costs, logistics spend, external partner costs, product supply decisions, and operational trade-offs.
• Support business cases and investment proposals related to supply chain optimization, network strategy, service levels, working capital, digital enablement, and cost improvement opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with business partners and proactively identify opportunities to improve financial visibility, accountability, and decision quality.

Gross Margin, COGS, and Inventory Analysis

• Support gross margin forecasting and analysis, including revenue, standard COGS, non-standard COGS, inventory-related charges, purchase price variances, production variances, royalties, scrap, expiry, excess and obsolete inventory, and other drivers of margin performance.
• Analyse inventory balances, days on hand, entitlement models, working capital utilisation, reserve requirements, and supply chain risk areas to support informed financial and operational decisions.
• Partner with Accounting, Manufacturing Finance, Commercial Finance, and Supply Chain to understand the drivers of standard cost, actual cost, inventory movements, and gross margin variances.
• Prepare concise, data-driven commentary that explains gross margin movements, identifies key risks and opportunities, and recommends actions to improve performance.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators relevant to supply chain efficiency, inventory health, working capital, COGS, and gross margin delivery.

Required Experience and Capabilities

• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in FP&A, financial analysis, supply chain finance, manufacturing finance, cost accounting, gross margin analysis, or a related finance role.
• Experience supporting supply chain, manufacturing, technical operations, commercial operations, or gross margin activities in a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other complex multinational environment preferred.
• Strong technical finance skills, including financial modelling, forecasting, variance analysis, scenario planning, KPI development, business case development, and financial storytelling.
• Understanding of supply chain processes, inventory management, standard costing, COGS, working capital, and the relationship between operational activity and financial performance.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial and operational data into clear insights, practical recommendations, and concise leadership-ready materials.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and build credibility with finance and business partners.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with ERP, planning, reporting, and analytics tools such as SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, Anaplan, SAC, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms preferred.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline required.
• Advanced degree or professional qualification such as MBA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent preferred.
