As a Lead Java Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping application and platform architecture within a cross-functional engineering environment. You will help build technology solutions that enable businesses to make smarter decisions through sophisticated software and data-driven capabilities. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with architectural leadership, strategic decision-making, and engineering mentorship. You will influence product roadmaps while balancing delivery speed with scalability, performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability. You will also contribute to global cloud operations, modernization initiatives, distributed systems, and regulated environments. Define, evolve, and own application and platform architecture, including service boundaries, integration patterns, data models, and API standards. Lead architecture reviews and contribute to product roadmap decisions, balancing rapid delivery with long-term simplicity, scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability. Evaluate and responsibly introduce new technologies while establishing engineering best practices across software design, CI/CD, secure coding, and reference implementations. Partner with engineering and product teams to solve complex technical challenges involving system modernization, performance optimization, data migrations, and distributed systems. Define technical strategies for multi-region global cloud deployments, with a focus on disaster recovery, availability, observability, and operational resilience. Contribute to technology strategies that support regulated environments and applicable compliance requirements, including FedRAMP or comparable frameworks. Mentor and coach engineers across teams, helping strengthen technical capabilities, engineering practices, and knowledge-sharing mechanisms. Lead or contribute to architecture communities and technical guilds that promote consistent engineering standards and continuous learning. Create and maintain technical design documentation, clearly communicating architectural decisions, trade-offs, and implementation approaches. Build alignment across engineering, product, and leadership stakeholders while navigating ambiguity and making pragmatic, durable technical decisions. Requirements: 10+ years of overall software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in senior technical leadership or expert-level roles within B2B SaaS environments. Strong multi-stack technical expertise across Java/J2EE, relational databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL, and major cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, and Azure. Experience working with modern frontend technologies such as React and Vue.js, with the ability to collaborate effectively across the broader technology stack. Proven experience leading software architecture and designing scalable, reliable systems with appropriate approaches to data consistency and distributed systems. Hands-on experience operating global cloud environments at scale, including considerations around availability, disaster recovery, observability, and compliance. Experience working with FedRAMP or comparable regulated compliance frameworks is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing architecture and design documentation. Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction and build alignment across engineering, product, and executive stakeholders. Strong mentoring and coaching capabilities, with a genuine interest in developing engineers and raising engineering quality. Pragmatic and analytical mindset, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and make clear, sustainable technical trade-offs. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. A Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is desirable. Experience designing shared services such as authentication, identity, and platform APIs is desirable. Experience with Kubernetes, service meshes, or platform developer tools is an advantage. Experience leading large-scale modernization initiatives involving legacy Java/J2EE applications is desirable.
