About the team Mission Simulation is STARK’s digital proving ground — the tactical environment where our entire ecosystem of UAVs, surface vessels, and EW systems converges. The Mission Simulation team is a small, specialized group based in Munich, working closely with our platform and C2 teams to integrate all multi-domain assets into high-fidelity, Software-in-the-Loop simulators. We move fast, ship realistic environments, and build for three core purposes: rigorous testing, high-stakes demos, and tactical training. There is no room for gamification. We simulate the reality of combat — from complex swarm logic to EW degradation — ensuring that developers can fail fast, and real soldiers can train safely before hitting the battlefield. Your mission As a Systems Integration & QA Engineer, you are the critical link between our physical simulation hardware and our software development team. You will physically assemble our simulator setups and rigorously test the software environments running on them. By building our QA processes from the ground up, you ensure that every simulation runs flawlessly, and you provide highly detailed, actionable feedback to our software engineers before any system is used for high-stakes training or customer demos. Responsibilities Assemble and configure physical simulator hardware setups, integrating PCs, networking gear, and tactical peripherals (e.g., VR, HOTAS) to create realistic testing environments. Execute comprehensive software testing within the Mission Simulation environment (e.g., VBS4, custom C++ modules) to identify bugs, performance bottlenecks, and tactical inaccuracies. Design and establish foundational QA testing protocols, test plans, and bug-tracking workflows from scratch. Collaborate directly with the software engineering team, translating simulator performance issues into clear, actionable technical feedback and bug reports. Validate software updates and new releases on the physical simulator setups to guarantee stability before they are deployed for customer demos or tactical training. Reproduce complex software and integration bugs systematically to assist developers in rapid resolution. Qualifications Degree in IT, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. 3+ years of experience in software QA testing, system integration, or a similar role bridging IT hardware and software development. Hands-on experience assembling IT/simulator hardware and configuring operating systems (Windows and Linux). Proven ability to define and build QA processes, write structured test plans, and manage bug-tracking workflows. Strong technical communication skills to effectively translate user-end bugs into actionable data for software developers. Professional working proficiency in English (both spoken and written). Nice to have Familiarity with simulation engines (e.g., VBS4, Unreal, Unity) or complex tactical gaming environments. Basic scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to automate repetitive software testing or OS configuration tasks.
