This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Accountant - CPG Sector based in Brazil. This is a hands-on, client-facing accounting role supporting growing Consumer Packaged Goods businesses across Latin America. You will take ownership of key accounting processes including AP, AR, cash application, reconciliations, inventory, COGS, sales channels, and month-end close. The role offers broad exposure to wholesale, distributor, e-commerce, and retail accounting environments. You will work closely with a Controller and Staff Accountants to maintain accurate and timely financial records. Strong knowledge of CPG-specific accounting processes, deductions, chargebacks, distributor remittances, and sales channel activity is essential. The position combines individual ownership with regular collaboration, client communication, and review responsibilities. You will play an important role in ensuring accounting deliverables are accurate, well-documented, and completed on schedule.

Oversee day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, reviewing vendor bills, invoices, customer accounts, and accounting classifications for accuracy and appropriate treatment. Manage vendor and customer reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, monitor AR aging, and resolve outstanding balances, credits, deductions, chargebacks, and distributor remittances. Process customer payments and deposits, clear unapplied or misapplied cash, and ensure transactions are accurately matched to invoices, bills, customers, and vendors. Perform and review bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and other assigned accounts, while maintaining complete supporting documentation. Record and reconcile sales across CPG channels such as Amazon Seller Central, Shopify, wholesale, and distributor accounts, including channel fees, commissions, returns, discounts, refunds, and other deductions. Support accurate inventory and COGS accounting, investigate differences between sales platform reports and accounting records, and work with SPS Commerce data and EDI-related information to support invoicing and reconciliation. Develop an understanding of customer- and distributor-specific accounting requirements, including wholesale processes, retailer deductions, trade spend, customer deposits, and distributor remittances. Own assigned month-end close activities, prepare and post journal entries, maintain supporting schedules, review P&L and balance sheet accounts, and proactively identify unusual activity or discrepancies. Collaborate closely with the Controller and Staff Accountants, review accounting work for accuracy and consistency, and provide support and guidance on assigned processes. Participate in client onboarding and ongoing client meetings, communicate directly with clients regarding accounting questions and missing information, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines across accounts. Maintain clear documentation, follow established accounting procedures and client-specific workflows, protect confidential financial information, and take ownership of assigned accounting processes and deliverables. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, combined with at least 3 years of hands-on accounting experience. Direct experience working with Consumer Packaged Goods, food and beverage, consumer products, wholesale, or other product-based businesses. Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash application, bank reconciliations, inventory, COGS, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close. Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, SPS Commerce, EDI processes, and Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Experience supporting wholesale customers, distributors, B2B accounts, e-commerce sales channels, and related accounting processes. Strong understanding of CPG-specific activities such as distributor deductions, chargebacks, trade spend, retailer deductions, remittances, customer deposits, returns, refunds, discounts, and sales channel fees. Familiarity with platforms such as Amazon Seller Central and Shopify is valuable, while experience with other e-commerce or ERP platforms is an advantage. Intermediate Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and IF functions, with the ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies. Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to reconciliation, documentation, quality control, and deadline management. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with confidence communicating directly with clients and participating in client meetings. Ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and ownership of deliverables. Strong collaboration skills and willingness to review and support the work of Staff Accountants while operating primarily as an individual contributor.
