Opportunities in Estonia

The Estonian Research Council's Mobility Support call is open year-round with 2026 review cut-offs on 22 May, 25 September and 18 December. The next cut-off is 25 September 2026. The scheme recruits researchers from abroad to Estonian research and development institutions, including foreign researchers and eligible Estonian researchers who have worked abroad. Support is €76,000 per year for 24 months, with ETAG covering 50% and the host institution covering 50%. The funding includes the researcher's salary fund, research costs and general host-institution costs.

The host Estonian R&D institution applies to recruit an eligible researcher from abroad. The official FAQ states that the researcher must not have held an employment contract with an employer registered in Estonia during the preceding 12 months; residence and employment conditions in the current call must be checked carefully. The host must confirm an employment contract for at least 24 months and explain how the researcher will be integrated into the institution.
