The two-year position is based in the Department of Information Technology's Division of Systems and Control. Research will focus on fundamental machine-learning models and medical applications using large ECG datasets, with possible collaboration with medical researchers in Uppsala and partners in Brazil. Technical themes include deep learning, Bayesian inference, probabilistic models and decision algorithms. Teaching may comprise up to 20% depending on availability and interest. The planned start is 1 October 2026 or as agreed.

Applicants must hold, or obtain by the employment decision, a PhD in machine learning, control, signal processing, computational statistics or a closely related field. Priority is generally given to applicants whose doctorate was completed within three years of the application deadline, subject to permitted extensions. The posting seeks experience developing machine-learning methods, applying deep learning to large datasets, strong English communication and good programming skills, preferably Python.
