Overview
The 2027 ACIAR Pacific Agriculture Scholarships and Support programme is open for postgraduate research study at the University of the South Pacific. Citizens who currently reside in Kiribati and six other listed Pacific countries are eligible to apply for Master’s by Research or PhD study.

PASS supports postgraduate research in agriculture, forestry and fisheries, with research proposals aligned to current programme topics or broader research themes. At USP, the 2027 intake covers Master’s by Research and PhD study, normally for up to 24 months for Master’s students and up to three years for PhD candidates. Applicants should prepare their research intent with prospective USP supervisors and the relevant ACIAR project leader or co-supervisor.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be citizens of and currently reside in Fiji, Kiribati, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu or Vanuatu, meet USP postgraduate admission requirements, align their proposal with a PASS research topic or theme, and be able to meet travel requirements for study at USP in Fiji or Samoa. USP’s current call states that Master’s applicants should normally have a relevant Bachelor’s degree with GPA 4.0+ or a relevant Postgraduate Diploma and Bachelor’s degree each with GPA 3.5+; PhD applicants should meet the stated research-degree entry requirements. Applicants should normally be age 35 or below for Master’s study and 45 or below for PhD study, with exceptional flexibility possible.
